Wonderful school that changes the future of many children struggling with dyslexia. Staff are all caring and committed. The small classes, individualized instruction, self-advocacy development makes a big difference. Many electives for older kids like wood shop, art, music, sports, drama. The only negative is that it only offers through 8th grade.

My child attended Charles Armstrong School for two years. It was transformative. The academic growth was only eclipsed by the social and emotional growth. My child learned to read above grade level by the end of fifth grade. More importantly, they came away from the experience feeling that they were not disabled, but just like a bunch of other kids. The self esteem and self advocacy learned at CAS has served my child well as they have successfully made the transition into an elite college. We still support CAS and stay in touch with the school.

I went to Charles Armstrong in 5th and 6th grade 35 years ago. Here I learned to read and write and I didn't feel like any different. I then went back to public school and then went to Cal and on to Medical School. This changed my life.
