We first contacted York Tuition a few months before our son took his AS Maths exams at which time he was struggling badly. Thankfully he not only passed his AS level but with further assistance this year has gone on to get a good grade at A level and a place at his University of choice.

For someone who found the teaching methods at school difficult to follow he responded very well to the 1 to 1 support and if he was struggling with any concepts his tutor ensured that he understood before moving on the next topic. Thanks to the relaxed friendly environment and wonderful support his confidence grew and he even learned to enjoy Maths.

I can’t praise York Tuition in enough and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for extra tuition.

I am so thankful that we discovered York Tuition, without the amazing support and dedication shown by John our son would not have been as successful as he was in his recent A Level maths exams. It was not only the excellent way that John diagnosed and worked on the areas that our son was having difficulty with, but he also made sure that he kept him working and communicated constantly with us so that we could support him too. York tuition were recommended by a friend and initially helped our son with his Y13 maths to achieve the results he needed to secure his university place of choice. John was flexible in scheduling tuition times and worked with him to identify priorities and the best way to maximising his marks. He was good at motivating him to do the practice and revision he needed. He also attended the Easter revision courses which he found really helpful. We were that pleased with the results and progress that nearer exam time we also used one of York Tuition's physics tutors to provide extra 1:1 help with some of the physics modules. Would recommend York Tuition without a doubt.

John is an amazing tutor. Both my boys attended the A level revision courses which they found extremely helpful. The courses were spaced evenly over the run up to exams which helped them with their maths revision just when time pressure is critical. I would highly recommend the courses and John as a personal maths tutor as his understanding of subject and student is excellent.

I had weekly tuition lessons with John during my final year of Maths and Further Maths A Levels. My confidence had been really knocked after some Mechanics exams in Year 12 and I felt I was behind in some modules. John was very patient with me, explaining concepts in a way which made so much more sense to me than it had in the classroom. He would make additional notes for me and bring lots of material such as past paper questions to the lessons to talk through. The lessons were very engaging and set to my pace of learning.

I came out with over 90% in both Mechanics exams in Year 13 and A*s in both Maths and Further Maths overall and I am now studying a Masters in Maths at a top university. I owe it all to John who was not only a brilliant teacher but also extremely supportive, caring and encouraging. Both my parents and I couldn't thank him enough. My son has been receiving Maths tuition from a tutor at York Tuition for approximately 3 years. He has special educational needs and this is a subject he has really struggled with.
Initially I contacted York Tuition by phone to discuss my son's situation. I was given sound advice and our tutor was very interested in how best to work with my son to get the best out of him. Our tutor, whilst professional, is very creative, patient and flexible in finding ways to help him to learn. Most of the time he even finds his lessons fun! Our tutor is very good at keeping me informed of my son's progress and whilst he does not sit his GCSE exam until next year his ability in this subject is really improving at a rate that school teaching alone had been unable to achieve with him.
I would highly recommend York tuition to anyone.

I decided on using York Tuition for a tutor after I didn't achieve the grade I wanted to in my maths A-Level which also meant that I didn't meet the grades for my preferred university. My tutor was the best I could have wished for. They were always on time, motivating and perhaps most importantly... Patient! But, as well as that we could also have a laugh and banter! Which obviously made the lessons a lot more enjoyable! I felt so much more confident that I knew the material going into my exams after the tutoring so I would definitely recommend!!
