Mountain Skies Astronomical Village provides some really fun activities and evening events at different levels for both grad students to kids. It is a very kid friendly environment. The folks there, especially Dr. Parker are very aware of the value of introducing students to astronomical studies and space sciences in these days of frequent and future space travel and exploration. Their classroom is easily accessible and they have an outstanding instrument under the dome. Future plans hope to include a professional level planetarium which will be an incredible asset to the community. I cannot wait.

We are a family of four with two elementary-aged kids. We left a message for daytime class slots, which someone called us back to reserve within a couple of days. On arrival, the large telescope was set up so visitors could look at the sun and see its lower-temperature spots. The staff offered to take our family's photo there. We visited during the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, and we next went to a classroom for a one-hour lesson on what it is, how to view it on our own, and more about space. There were lots of hands-on experiences, which kept my kids engaged and interested. The gift shop had toys, books, souvenirs, cold water, and frozen treats. Our whole family learned a lot and really enjoyed the experience. We followed their instructions and saw many meteors that night!

Please take time to tell a friend or two about this amazing opportunity to se the stars, learn about our universe, and see how we all fit together on this floating rock! So much history is here! It doesn't matter if you are a novice astronomer,, or just interested in doing something different for the mind; this place shouldn't be a secret, it should be a must visit! The gift shop has more than just space stuff for education..they have fun gifts that are welcome to any age!

Dr. Parker herself is a terrific asset to our communities, let alone this amazing facility. Without the continuing dedication of Dr. Parker and many others, this singular asset wouldn't be here. She engages people and is a wonderful teacher. They hosted an event for our group, and everyone loved it. Dr. Parker is fun, gracious, beyond knowledgeable, answers questions in a manner a layperson can understand, and conveys a strong passion for astronomy. This place is astounding. I had no idea that such resources were available to both the public and doctoral candidates. Thanks Dr. Parker! We will all be back!

No communication. Horribly difficult to reach and communicate with. After 3.5 weeks of trying, I finally got to speak with Dr. Parker, and she was incredibly rude and curt. Thought this was a neat organization and resource to have on the mountain. Very disappointed to see how wrong I was. After this experience and treatment, we will never spend a cent there or support in any way. I am saddened and offended by the way myself and my group were treated. We have several wholesome and professional organizations up here, I thought this was one of them, I was mistaken. I hope this helps prevent other major disappointments for other families and groups. Such a letdown.

if you’re the type of person who finds something to complain about wherever you go, then i’m sure you would rate this place one star just like all of your other reviews. but if you’re like me, and can just go with the flow and relax than this will certainly be a five star experience for you! (:
