This class was taught by a extremely unprofessional instructor (Patricia Duarte).
Into the second day of OSHA 10 Maritime training I was asked a question and I requested Patricia to repeat the question that was specifically directed at me, due to English obviously being a second language to this instructor I did not get upset or rude, I just very specifically told her that I could not understand her and if she could enunciate the specific word I did not understand that I would be able to answer her questions. Eventually we preceded on with the class and after a hour or so there was a video we had to watch about workers using highly flammable solvent coating the inside of a pipe, they ended up having uneven spray patterns so they used the solvent to clean the paint sprayers and likely static electricity caused the fire and the workers were trapped. Denver emergency response came and tried to give the workers air breathing apparatus's from the top of the tunnel to no avail. After the video ended Patricia asked me what caused the incident and obviously I had been watching the video and had the answer I was unmuting myself when she very unprofessionally said to the whole class well Brandon is sleeping and removed me from the class. Frustrated and confused I immediately emailed her explaining I was not asleep and the answer to her question about the video that proper ventilation, a emergency plan, and lack of respirators caused the individuals in the video to die from asphyxiation. After the email I called the number from the introduction email she sent out and she was very loud and rude and would not let me speak or interest in resolving the situation in any professional manner, she elaborated that she would be in contact with my employer and get me set up with someone who spoke better English because she didn't think I was comprehending the material at all.
Let me just say that I just got out of active duty Navy after 6 years and am currently a Reservist, while active duty I was a Missile Technician onboard two Ohio Class fleet ballistic missile Submarines. I am very qualified and have extensive knowledge in all topics that were covered by this training and in no way unable to comprehend any material from this basic introduction to safety. I specifically held briefs for multi dimensional evolution's incorporating many different divisions in the Navy and outside entities.
I am appalled by the unprofessional-ism of this instructor and will be in contact with this company concerning her performance as a instructor for this class.
