My daughter started weekly tutoring sessions at the Durham center in April of this year and I already see major improvements. We chose Sylvan over several other tutoring companies based on online reviews and feedback from parents who enrolled their children in the past. I love that Sylvan has individualized curriculums and processes tailored to meet specific benchmarks. Michelle, the Director, has been great and we can’t thank her enough for helping us navigate the Sylvan experience. We will surely miss her when she leaves the Durham facility.

Sylvan has been a great experience so far! The Director, Michelle is amazing! She communicates thoroughly and you can tell she cares for the students. She thinks of ways to incentivize families to be engaged in the process and is upfront about everything. I appreciated the assessment in the beginning to help us better understand our child’s strengths and gaps. We look forward to seeing the progress our child will make.

After walking into the center and being greeted by the director, Michelle Blackmon, I knew I was in the right place for my daughter. Michelle was very thorough and she made sure I had a clear understanding of how Sylvan worked. She also ensured that I was aware of the expectations from me to aide in my child’s success with the program. My daughter is so excited to learn in small groups with other children. After her first day, she asked if we could read together everyday.

My daughter started in November of last year, which she was at the beginning stage of kindergarten level and she is in the 2nd grade. Within a few weeks of her beginning there she has improved. By the end of the year, she was on last grade level, and some 2nd grade by the middle of January 2024. They are really working with her, so that she can be prepared for 3rd grade next year. Her goal is to be above grade level, and with they support and mine, she will be. I highly recommend Sylvan Learning to any child who needs the help. Thank you Michelle Blackmon and staff for all you have done and is still doing. If it wasn't for y'all I don't know where my child levels will be. Keep doing to support our future leaders. I can not thank you enough.

Both of my sons went to Sylvan. The staff is excellent, and Michelle Blackmon is wonderful. They both needed help in Math and Reading, and by the end of the 3rd quarter, their grades went up. I would recommend Sylvan if your kids need that extra help.

I have been so very pleased with my son's lessons at Sylvan Learning Center of Durham. With the pandemic, he had gotten behind in his early math and reading skills. After 1 year of meeting with his tutors at Sylvan, he jumped 1 full grade level in math and 2 grade levels in reading. Club Sylvan has made it so easy for us to stay consistent with his sessions yet make his sessions flexible enough to fit with our homeschooling program. Thank you Club Sylvan!

Michelle was very friendly and responsive -- she listened to concerns and tailored a tutoring and support plan to fit my child's needs. The tutors helped my child gain confidence in and deeper understanding of her school work. She also had a big improvement in her ACT score after taking the prep course at Sylvan.
