Teacher Zhou is exceptionally thorough and attentive to detail in her instruction. She takes the time to correct even the smallest nuances, from weight shifts in specific movements to precise hand placements and breathing techniques to flow with the choreography.

I have been dancing ballet for years and decided to learn Chinese classical dance a year ago. Back then there were no systemic shenyun courses for adults but only routines. I had to pick out basic shenyun elements from the routines and learned them on my own, which is not the most effective way to learn. There were areas that I struggled but without going through foundation training, I just could not address the issues.

It was a pleasant surprise that teacher Zhou started offering systemic shenyun courses. Teacher Zhou offers very detailed technical instructions and often gives 1:1 corrections. She teaches us like a teacher would to young students with professional aspirations, which is rare for adult dance classes. She is very patient and even kneeled, understanding the limitations of adults while also pushing us to do our best. I vividly recall after the first class, I suddenly realized the missing elements of a floor routine that I struggled for months. Before taking teacher Zhou's class, I was taking choreography routine classes for a year. No matter how hard I tried, I still dance Chinese classical routines in ballet style. After just two terms with teacher Zhou, finally I can dance Chinese classical routine with shenyun in Chinese classical style.
