I had an extremely disappointing experience with Googain this time. I have used them in past. But this time Syed their broker and would strongly caution anyone considering working with them. Their unethical behavior, lack of transparency, and miscommunication cost me 2-3 critical days during my loan process, leading to missed opportunities for better mortgage rates.
Here’s what happened:
Syed initially verbally promised to cover my closing costs during a phone call. When I asked for this commitment in writing via email or text, they claimed it was "against compliance." However, other brokers I spoke to had no issues providing similar details in writing. When I pointed this out, he dismissively said those brokers "don’t know how to process loans."
Additionally, I decided to buy points since it provided more credit to use than the closing costs they had mentioned earlier. Shockingly, he pretended that the credit they had originally promised was tied to the points purchase all along, essentially backtracking on their original "zero closing costs" promise.
This lack of honesty and transparency is unacceptable, especially for such an important financial transaction. If you still choose to work with him, demand everything in writing before proceeding. Verbal promises mean nothing here, and you could end up wasting valuable time and money.
