I booked a 1 hour trail ride for 4 people for my daughter’s birthday as a surprise! When we arrived the kids decided they wanted to do the 2 hour trail ride instead. I know Shadow Glen is usually booked up because we have also done riding lessons here a couple times this summer. When we arrived I asked if it was possible to upgrade to a 2 hour ride instead. They said they couldn’t because they also had a fundraiser going at the same time which limited their horses, guides, and wranglers. Totally understandable! But they offered for us to come back a couple hours later for another 1 hour ride! That was perfect because it gave us time to go eat lunch and come back! The staff is super friendly, very helpful, and very professional.

I took my 11 and 8 year old, and they had a blast! It was my son's first time riding, and the trail guides and staff were so helpful. He wasn't scared or nervous at all. His favorite part was actually after the ride when the owner Terry let him hold some chickens (his favorite animal) and take some eggs home. My oldest and I have been here many times, and we always have an amazing experience. Can't wait to come back!

Been in Sacramento over 30 years and this place is a hidden gem! Process to book was very easy. Very friendly staff who knew what they needed to in order to provide us a safe and educated ride. We were celebrating a belated birthday and took the 1-hour ride which was amazing. The horses were well mannered and some came with fun personalities. Special thanks to Jessica who answered my questions and to Terry who took the time to provide us with some history on Shadow Glen as well as information on volunteering and becoming a wrangler. Kudos to you and your crew!

This place was amazing from the call to book all the way through the ride. The wranglers were so friendly and so helpful. My mother in law and aunt are in their 70s, I had never been, and my fiancé had only done it once. They gave us a demonstration beforehand and continued checking that we were ok on the ride. They stopped with us on the trail and took a group picture. We will definitely be back!

Had an absolutely wonderful time on our trail ride! Took my best friend and her daughter as a surprise birthday adventure, it was a perfect day. Staff are so welcoming and knowledgeable!

I used to ride and still ride for pleasure from time to time, but haven’t found my home barn yet. I decided to give this place a go and visited with my family today. First of all, the person who helped me on the phone was kind and informative and told me to come on over and check the place out without an appointment. Then I met the owner who introduced me to one of their trainers. They were both beyond kind and welcoming, took all my concerns and considerations into account. And a plus was that they treated my children with dignity and respect. A lot of other places act like children are a bother but not here. Really wonderful owner, kind, and very welcoming and hospitable. Can’t wait to begin my riding journey again!

My friend and I had a one hour private trail ride today. Jade and Bella were our handlers who did a great job. I rode Lacey and my friend rode Elmo. I have been on several trail rides at Shadow Glen Stables and I highly recommend it.

I took an afternoon ride with my 11 year old daughter and my first time husband and it was great! I called ahead of time and booked an appointment letting them know that my daughter was ASD, and my husband was a first timer. When we got there, they were more than accommodating. It was the small group of the 3 of us, and a group of birthday party girls. They kept the three of us in a small chunk ahead of the birthday party group (who were kinda loud and chatty) Maya and Cheryl were phenomenal, keeping the girls focused on their ride, and thoughtfully and assertively reassuring them along the way.Both ladies went out of their way to make sure that my daughter was safe and Confident on the ride. Cheryl made sure that my daughter felt comfortable with the horse (Irene) that was chosen for her, and made sure that my daughter’s feet reached the stirrups correctly. Both ladies were able to engage with her on her level and speak to her like a human being, while also giving her the corrections she needed without making her feel uncomfortable or insecure. I like my daughter being able to be exposed to ladies who are assertive as necessary but also kind, supportive, respectful, and gentle. They were awesome at reinforcing positive posture for her while also, building up her confidence and self esteem in riding. My little girl wants to go again as soon as possible and I think that we will be spending a lot more family time together at Shadow Glen Stables.
