I highly recommend working with Benji for your tutoring needs. I recently worked with him for support with a college level math class. I had not taken a math class since high school so I did not feel very confident in my ability and my skills. Benji not only helped me understand complex concepts, which resulted in me doing well in the course, but he also helped me gain confidence in my ability to do well and understand math concepts that typically felt intimidating to me. Benji also brings a kind and patient energy to all the sessions and incorporates humor, making working with him very enjoyable.

We have had a very successful tutoring experience with Joy Tutoring over the past year. Our now 14 year old worked directly with Benji weekly last year, specifically for math support in 7th grade. This year we're working with a newer tutor that's part of Benji's team for organizational support and high school preparedness. Last year we saw a huge transition in his comprehension of material, his confidence in himself to do the work and this resulted in an improvement in his grades and understanding of math overall. Benji was easy to communicate with and quick to respond. Though at times it was challenging to get our child to want to work on school more after spending the entire day in classes, he always returned from his tutoring sessions feeling good about himself and reporting that he had a great session, learned something or understood something better. Benji was always available for check-ins and feedback about sessions as needed. We really appreciated the relationship he built with our child and the time and patience he prioritized.
We're continuing to work with Joy Tutoring this year again during 8th grade and I recommend Benji and his team highly. We're grateful we found something so great and so close to home.

My GRE score went from 285 on my first practice test to 305 on the actual test. It was amazing that I only needed to take the test one time to get the score I needed to apply for grad school.

Benji is such a treat because he has a unique way of looking at the world that is the root of an extremely effective teaching ability. I am not gifted at math, so when I began GRE prep, I turned to a friend who studied applied physics at Colombia in New York and was a high school teacher for 5+ years. Not that my friend wasn’t helpful, but Benji was able to solidify my understanding of math in a way that my other friend was unable to. I give the credit to Benji’s patient, gentle, wonderfully peculiar nature. He makes learning fun, enjoyable, and possible.
