Our son entered Tahoe Prep Hockey Academy last year as the youngest goalie at just 14 years of age, going into grade 10. Coming from Canada, we knew this was an incredible opportunity for him in his goalie development, social and personal development and it allowed him to continue to maintain his high GPA while taking advanced placement classes. He's going into grade 11 in the fall and will have already completed his senior year in advanced placement calculus. If we were to keep him home with us, he would not have the same development, level of coaching or the same opportunities to advance so rapidly through his high school classes. Tahoe is like a family to us and Head Coach Leo truly treats our son like he was his own. The team manager and house mom Kristina has been an amazing presence for the boys and was always in touch with me right away any time our boy caught a bug (which was maybe 2 or 3 times the entire year). Goalie Coach Fritzy is the absolute best and our son's skills are night and day from where he was when he entered Tahoe last year! We look forward to another year of Tahoe Prep for our son this fall!!!

We have the unique experience of living in Lake Tahoe, where the academy is located. This allowed our son to go back and forth between the academy and our home. This experience as a whole has been very positive. My son’s hockey skills have improved greatly throughout the season, the coaching is excellent! More importantly, the academy places a strong emphasis on developing not only athletes but young men with integrity, confidence and respect for the sport, parents, coaches and for each other. Highly recommend this program!

Tahoe Hockey Academy is a game changer in Prep schools. The staff and facilities are top notch with the emphasis on the individual. Our son made the decision to to attend Tahoe Hockey Academy to not only better his chances of playing college hockey but also to improve his academic performance and both of these things have happened. We have been able to watch our son grow into a young man and understand what it takes to be a true student athlete. The staff are some of the best people we have ever met in the hockey world.

I posted several months ago at the beginning of the season and yes I was requested to add a review by the staff but I was not told what to write . My experience and expectations at that time were positive and now at this time it is more than positive! I am over the moon with my experience with Tahoe Hockey Academy! My son has grown on and off the ice this year and we could not have asked for a better experience. The experience has honestly been all we were promised and more. I expected my son to get better on the ice, of course with daily ice time. Honestly, if your player is not improving with the amount of ice and instruction provided then you probably should be looking for another sport for him to play 🙂 . I have not been told by my player that any ice time has been diminished but yes some time is now shared with the varsity team and the prep team....but the boys work hard daily on the ice and in the gym. More importantly my son has grown off the ice in a way that I do not believe would have happen at home in this time. Responsibility, Integrity, personal accountability in the classroom and in the dorms. My player is blossoming into an awesome young man in part because I sent him there as a pretty awesome boy but THA is helping him become a pretty awesome man. We love it!

We have known Leo for many years and he is a wealth of hockey knowledge, always has the kids best interest at heart. Mike Lewis is obviously one of the best coaches in California. His reputation and coaching style are second to known. My son will be spending 2 weeks over the summer with them and I'm certain he is going to learn a great deal. Can't wait for him to get better, train hard in the high altitude setting and be with a great group of kids and coaches.

Tahoe Prep Hockey Academy is a fantastic program. My son improved so much with his hockey and really matured into a responsible young man. The coaching staff is top notch. The dorm mom's were the best ever, they really treat each kid as there own. Everything at Tahoe Prep Academy by far succeeded my expectations.

THA was one of the best decisions our family has ever made. The THA staff have been so helpful from the coaches and all of the ice time to the academic advisor making sure my son is caught up and getting better grades than He ever has. The dorm staff has made life at the dorms fun and safe, and I never worried about his well being while he was there. Living at the dorms has allowed my son to make life long friends and build relationships that will last forever.
The improvement we have seen in his skating and skill on the ice is unbelievable; it is like cramming two or three years into one. After an injury and surgery at the end of the season took my son out of the game, the staff made sure he was taken care of medically and helped him stay on top of his physical therapy program.
After finishing up his sophomore year, he can't wait to get back to Tahoe to start skating again.

have a nephew at the academy... he is having an amazing experience. I saw the post about gifts at the Christmas party and other extra curricular activities... well according to various people I spoke to at a recent event that never happen ... I received that from the players themselves. My nephew is improving on and off the ice... his personal growth and accountability has been amazing to watch each time he visits home. He loves the accessibility to the ice and the frequency and intensity of the daily practices and gym sessions. My nephew never considered not returning ... after each home visit he can't wait to go back to school..."evertything important to me is there" His grades are good the classes challenging even the online classes but it is a blended situation. THA has been a good experience thus far and I am looking forward to see what they do in the coming year on and off the ice
