Had a great birthday lunch here. Jose our waiter was excellent. We loved the brisket nachos, braised beef & KBBQ tacos. The breakfast burrito with brisket was also delicious. The red velvet churros were over the top and loved the birthday presentation!
Sitting outside on the patio made for a perfect celebration!

Food was good, drinks were good. Ambiance feels like any other gentrified place. Service here sucks. First of all the person who sat us asked what kind of water we wanted. We said still.....Not knowing they were gonna charge us $8 a bottle of water. Still and flat water are the same thing. Fine. But then the happy hour menu AND the menu spells out what beer they have. Model and Pacifico. I ask our waitress for a michelada with a modelo. She answers as if I cant read and said "we don't have modelo. We have Dos Equis and tecate"....... Not "I'm sorry we changed our menu" nothing. She was cold and dry. Not friendly at all. She didn't even give us her name. To top it all off there was barely any avocado in the grilled shrimp burrito. I wouldn't go back.

My mom had the crispy shrimp bowl over a year ago, and when she came back to LA she said having it again was one of the things she was looking forward to most! Vibrant, quality, and delicious. The food comes fast, is rather affordable, and doesn’t disappoint!

Welp…
To call this place “Mexican Food” would be a disservice to Mexicans everywhere. A weird remix of traditional plates and some strange tasting hybrid ones. Food was oddly seasoned and lacked spice. Sort of reminded me of restaurants when they learn the items but forget the recipes-the food looks great but lacks in any promise of flavor.

Worse our waiter left us and clocked out for the day shortly after being seated -leaving us with their luxious “tap” water and cold** chips and guacamole seasoned with tajin. My suspicion is that the chips, guacamole, and serving spoon-yes you read that right- were left in the refrigerator together to make service quicker-not to say they were busy, the place was basically empty before and after we ate.

Which brings me to the bathrooms 🚽. Broken run down and kinda smelly, the faucets were barely functioning with broken handles and a soap dispenser that was just jammed in there because the original broke and was never fixed.

Whew that was a lot and not to say there aren’t hard workers at this restaurant but the food was sloppy, my drink gave me a bad headache, and something else irritated my mouth. At the end we received the wrong check and would have just paid to get out of there but we’re not dishonest ppl.

Not a great experience and definitely not worth the price. This restaurant should be avoided-it’s like a run down amusement park in a prime location.

Korean BBQ Burrito was excellent. Good service and casual atmosphere. Very reasonable prices. I will definitely be going back to try more menu specialities.

I’ve ordered the same meal twice before, I usually hit dairy allergy since it’s an option, I assumed there was a vegan cheese, tofay I got a note saying it has dairy, so twice I’ve had dairy instead of them calling and confirming… ontop of that news, they put meat in my vegan kbbq burrito. Someone needs to be fired.

Tacos are the best in LA, they have so many non-traditional options that are wonderful. The vibe is fun too. Service is nice, but often very slow, depends on the night.

Tacos Tu Madre in Los Feliz migrated a few blocks over to a much larger space on Hillhurst, and the move was a great idea. They space they relocated to has a huge, shaded patio, and with how great LA weather is, it is a perfect spot to enjoy some great tacos.

The food was fantastic and creative. I went with a taco sampler, two breakfast, two regular and four was a LOT of food. Two or three would be filling, especially with the fresh tortilla chips and salsas they offer. There were a lot of flavor options on the menu, and everything looked great. The four I settled on were perfect for my tastes.

Tu Madre has multiple locations around LA. Parking for Los Feliz was not something I noticed since I was able to just walk over but knowing the neighborhood, it won't be too hard to find street parking.
