This place makes learning fun in a safe and clean environment! My daughter has improved tremendously in her math and reading skills since coming here a few months ago. She also attended the Winter Camp during the holidays and enjoyed it - there were field trips, each day had a different theme, and tutoring in the areas she needed additional help with. Our kids also attended a Parents' Night Out at the Brandon location and they loved it! Fun activities, pizza, dessert, and some extra tutoring time with Mrs. Gibson herself! Mrs. Gibson and her team do a great job at educating and making it fun for all ages!

Our experience was unfortunately the same as the commenter below. Stay away from this place if your child has special needs!

I enrolled my 7 year old daughter who is on the spectrum for a day to get comfortable with her new surroundings and teachers. She had been there before, over a year ago for a couple days, but was turned away and told to try again next year after she had been in school. I thought okay, fair enough. I understand she hadn't been in a school setting yet, so let's do that first.

She successfully completed a year of kindergarten with no problems and even attended another daycare facility and summer camp with no problems as well. We returned hopeful, but was turned away after ONE day!! The owner Ariel claimed that, "she didn't have the staff to handle her." How does she know she doesn't have the staff? She gave her one day! She didn't even get to know her. If she would have gotten to know her, she would have realized that it was just a bad day. I know my daughter didn't get a lot of sleep the night before, and she was in new surroundings, so of course she's going to have a bad day! I know kids not on the spectrum that are much harder than her. It's like she heard the word autism and panicked. It makes me wonder, if she can't accommodate someone like my daughter, who is on the low end of the spectrum, who can she accommodate? She needs to stop telling parents she can accommodate them, when she can't.

By law, The American With Disabilities Act requires child care programs to make “reasonable” efforts to accommodate a child with a disability. She made NO effort and judged my daughter on one bad day and a couple days over a year ago before she attended school.

Not only that, but I was asking for recommendations for a daycare on Facebook. I didn't even mention the owner, or her business in my post, but she felt the need to post in the comments, like I was attacking her. She talked about all the stuff my daughter did and trouble she caused her, making it seem like my daughter is a certain way, and I'm telling you she is not. It's also so inappropriate to put personal information of a minor out there for all to see. What kind of person does that? So wrong and unprofessional! As the owner, she takes no responsibility, shows no compassion, or is not even remotely apologetic.

Her overall demeanor when speaking with her was very cold. She acted like she was irritated that we even attempted to attend. She wasn't apologetic, she wasn't understanding, she didn't seem to care. She was kind of just like, too bad so sad...now get out. Her lack of compassion and willingness to accommodate a child who is on spectrum is concerning. I would definitely think twice about enrolling your child.

Editing to add that we were not asked about 1:1 assistance and stated in the reply. My son IS potty trained. I also want to emphasize police only came about when I arrived and made the call. Also, the given response seems to deflect responsibility and attribute blame to our family (yet again).

I regret to say that our experience with Fundamental Minds camp was nothing short of disastrous. We enrolled both of our children, one of whom has Down Syndrome and high needs, after a conversation with the owner, Ariel, who assured us that they were qualified to handle our child's requirements. Unfortunately, the reality proved to be quite the opposite.

During one of the camp outings, our son eloped at a park, and what followed was a series of negligent actions and failures on the part of the camp staff. First, instead of relying on trained staff members to handle the situation, Ariel recruited our 7-year-old daughter to chase after him. This was not only irresponsible but also put her in danger.

As our son ran towards the woods, he was in imminent danger, and Ariel failed to take swift action. Despite being aware of the severity of the situation, she did not call the police to report the incident, leaving our special needs child lost and vulnerable in the woods for a considerable amount of time.

When we arrived at the park to help, Ariel was quick to point fingers and accused us of taking our time. It was evident that she lacked accountability and showed no remorse for her actions. Her dismissive behavior towards the seriousness of the situation was deeply concerning.

Moreover, it became apparent that the staff at the camp were underqualified to work with special needs children. This raised serious doubts about the center's ability to provide a safe and nurturing environment for special needs kids to learn and grow.

Despite the traumatic situation and the involvement of the police's search and rescue team, Ariel never apologized for her negligence. When we attempted to warn other special needs parents about the facility's lack of qualifications, she tried to dissuade us from sharing our experiences.

In addition to the aforementioned issues, what shocked and dismayed us even further was Ariel's reprehensible behavior towards our special needs child. Instead of taking responsibility for the negligent actions of her staff and herself, she went as far as blaming our son, labeling him as "severe" and attempting to shift the blame onto him.

This heartless response demonstrated a complete lack of empathy and understanding for the challenges our child faces. It is utterly unacceptable for an owner, responsible for the well-being of all camp attendees, to resort to such unprofessional and insensitive behavior, especially in the wake of a traumatic incident.

Ariel's attempt to absolve herself of any responsibility and place the blame on our vulnerable child was deeply distressing. As parents, we were appalled by her callousness and refusal to acknowledge her own negligence in the situation.

This incident further highlights the grave concerns we have about Fundamental Minds camp's ability to provide a safe and compassionate environment for special needs children. We implore other parents to be cautious and think twice before entrusting their children to an establishment that allows such behavior from its owner.

Fundamental Minds camp was the best decision for us. Our son was challenged academically but had plenty of fun. The field trips were organized and well planned. Thanks so much and see you next summer!

This place is so wonderful! Everyone is so friendly and you can tell they love teaching. My son always has a great time and says they “make learning fun” and “always have cool activities!” It’s nice knowing that he can have fun, while learning, in a safe and uplifting environment.

I would 100% recommend fundamental minds for any of your tutoring needs. I first met Mrs Gibson at Pinecrest elementary. She was one of the teachers there at the school that also offered tutoring support. My son was struggling with reading due to his dyslexia and ADHD. When he started working with Miss Gibson I noticed such a change in him his attitude his drive. When she opened fundamental minds there was no doubt in my mind that this is where my son needed to be to help him meet his educational goals. Since he's been at this facility he is gained so much self-confidence and so much strength in his reading and even social skills. Every teacher here is outstanding, patient, kind and knowledgeable. The staff all work so wonderfully with these kids and every child in this facility is so happy and enjoys their time there. My son at the time of starting at fundamental minds had a reading level of a kindergartener he now is back up to the 4th grade where he belongs. And this is no doubt due to the patience, dedication and knowledge from each of these teachers here.
