One of two libraries in town, the Essex Library is another great resource as the Ivoryton Library. Gone are the days of stuffy librarian stereotypes. Here you’ll find friendly, upbeat and outgoing staff eager to assist. I needed to get copies of music that were only available at the Hartt Performance Library. I did my homework first by calling Hartt and their librarian confirmed that they had the parts and how I should go about requesting them through my local library. When I approached the Essex Library and asked about how I could use the “inter-library system” to get some music, they didn’t flinch. They quickly and easily explained how to fill out a form and what would happen next. Thanks to my diligence, I had all the information at hand to fill out the form right there. Getting music on loan from one library to another is not your everyday request. I’m sure the inter-library system is heavily dependent on many factors such as staffing or content availability. Although the process worked and I got the music to copy, it took much longer than I anticipated so allow a few extra weeks lead-time if you use this service. Of course getting a book through the inter-library system works a lot faster. There are so many wonderful programs at the Essex Library like guest lectures, art shows and reading events. It’s a wonderful community place to visit and it's right across from a fun park for the kids.

The Library is awesome . I go in their to get DVD's and they all ways have Great DVD's and if they don't have the one that you want they call another Library to see if the have it and if they do than I will get it they will put it on hold for you or anybody that wants it but you can't put it in the drop off box because the other place it came from does't want it to go their.They have Stuff for people to sign up for and they also have book sales for all ages and it's fun
