After years of neglecting my teeth i ended up in the er close to me and was told to go to unconn dental emergency. Ended up with 2 emergency extractions and 1 being a wisdom. They did an amazing job. Put myself on the waiting list for regular dental less than a year I was able to get in. My resident Sarah is above and beyond. She truly listening to me and my concerns. I'm happy to go thru the process of getting dentures with her

This is more of a PSA to save you a phone call than a proper review. There is a year-plus waiting list to be seen here, presumably because it's the only place in CT you can get reasonably affordable dental care with no insurance. (Or subpar insurance.) It might be worth putting yourself on the list to play the long game, but any immediate needs are obviously out of the question. (At least as far as basic care goes; they DO have an emergency clinic during weekdays, although they won't perform any long-term care that way - crowns, etc. - unless you're a regular patient. It seems to just function as a dental triage until you can see an outside provider.) I can only imagine this issue is going to get worse as time goes by and more and more people join the working poor, with dental benefits so shoddy (or non-existent) that student clinics become the only option. This is a system in which dental plans can have $1,000 maximum payouts per year which won't even cover a root canal, let alone a single tooth implant which costs 3-4 times that. Fun fact - dental plans have basically kept the same maximum payouts since the 80's, despite heavy inflation. If they kept up with the times, the maximum would be around $5,000 now, but they haven't budged due to corporate greed.

As other reviews have noted, the woman on the phone was quite terse, but I can't say I blame her. I suspect 80% of her calls are delivering bad news about the wait list to people, many of whom complain to her even though it's not remotely her fault. The actual problem is that we've taken something like dental care - something essential to our health, to our appearance, to eating, and to quality of life - and bent it to the profit motive and walled it behind a maze of money-grubbing insurance outfits. Need a crown? Enjoy spending the equivalent of a fun week in Vancouver on it when a civilized nation would have it covered by default, paid for by our (considerable) taxes.

I went in with pain that was radiating all the way from my head to my neck because of an infected tooth. I went in as a walk in & yes there was a wait of a little over an hour but when I got in they suggested an extraction & gave me the option to do it right then & there. I am so glad I said yes. The lady that did the extraction & the assistant were both so kind and gentle. Made the whole process a lot easier. I was very satisfied!

I was trying to ask them for help when I felt a seizure coming on in the dental waiting room. Reception kicked me out. Only a janitor was willing to assist me. I didn't make it far before hitting my head and going unconscious. Poor medical intergrity overall. More like a social club than a medical facility.
