Our boy had fallen behind in math and reading and was giving up on school in the 7th grade. We decided to give Sylvan Learning a try, and we could not be happier with the results. They were able to hone in on just where he became lost and that's where they started with him. They don't move to a new concept until he really understands what he's working on, so he's building a strong base to build upon. In regular school, he always said that just as he was beginning to understand something they moved on, so he never quite got it. He's back to being excited about learning and for the first time ever he has decided that math is fun . The staff are very caring and focused upon individual success, which is building his confidence. I have and will continue to recommend this program.

I personally attended Sylvan Learning the Midland and Saginaw locations as a child. The reviews describing loving caring people are very accurate, however the experience was awful. It was patronizing and belittling.

Sylvan is great, if you'd like your child to be a robot who can randomly recite information from a textbook. Unfortunately, Sylvan is yet another supplemental education system that deteriorates the creative genius in every child they encounter. Sylvan, creating the future followers of America!

Frankly, Sylvan is just another for-profit school that over claims and under delivers.

I’ve sent all three of my children there for various needs (SAT prep, Algebra, reading) and Sylvan has always exceeded my expectations! They do a great job of keeping kids engaged and excited about learning.

My youngest daughter was falling behind in math in second grade. She started at Sylvan at the end of second grade. She was behind in first grade skills when starting at Sylvan. She continued through the end of third grade. At the end of third grade, she was through fourth grade skills and into fifth grade skills. All of her other grades improved as well with the self-confidence she gained with improving her math skills. She told me she thought she was dumb and that was why she was struggling in Math. Now she knows she is smart and works hard at school. She has been invited to join the "Gifted and Talented" program at her school next year. The help she received is still paying off and I'm grateful for Sylvan.

Excellent center. The director is very involved, helpful, and truly cares about your child's progress. The instructors are wonderful - they offer high quality instruction and they are great at setting high yet realistic goals for your child to achieve. I highly recommend their services.
