The concept and the cause truly are great. Unfortunately, practically, you are better off being uninsured than you are partnering with this company. We have paid nearly $15,000 in premiums. The threshold for sharing has gone up every single year. We finally had an incident we needed their help with that exceeded the threshold, and we're only getting roughly $2,000 in help (if they decide all the charges are authorized). That's after I did all the hard work of negotiating the discounts. The people at the company are very kind, and I have no doubt they have good intentions. However, their promotional material and website are misleading, and their claims system is not helpful. They claim their policy has "no deductible," but the sharing threshold is actually a deductible under the name of "personal responsibility" (for example, if you have an incident that costs $5,000 and the threshold is $2,500, they will only cover $2,500). It's actually worse than a deductible because you can't send in smaller bills that accumulate toward that amount; it only counts on the large, covered bills. It is marketed as a health insurance alternative, but in reality it is a "Catastrophic" policy. If you're looking for a health insurance alternative because you can't afford health insurance, unfortunately you are better off being uninsured than you are signing up for CHM.

My employer has never offered Health insurance to their employees. I have struggled to be able to afford the premiums that self insurance charges along with the outrageous deductible s. CHM has made it affordable to me because of their awesome sharing that members provide to each other. I have always considered myself quite healthy until the end of 2024, when a few health crisis s occurred. If it hadn't have been for CHM sharing my bills, I'm not sure how I would have covered the costs. Thank you CHM members !!

CHM has been a huge blessing to our family. We have three sons. One of them was hospitalized in the acute unit for pneumonia. It was a terrifying week. Specialty teams needed to be brought in to save his life. The bills kept adding up. CHM made it possible for our son to receive the best care and make a full recovery from his pneumonia. The process for reimbursement is made easy through the website. We are grateful for this program

We tried another medical cost sharing plan several years ago and did not have a good experience with any part of it. We went back to traditional insurance coverage until it just got too expensive. We were very hesitant to try a cost sharing program again, but heard such good reviews from people we trusted. So, here we are with CHM and have they have exceeded our expectations! We have the gold program and what used to be called my brother's keeper. These levels are well worth it. Their customer service reps have always been helpful, shown patience and kindness every (literally) time I have called with questions. That includes when I have not submitted the correct documents or asked questions that I could have found on my own if I had looked. We have also been pleased with reimbursements we've received and the explanations of why something wasn't eligible. If you are unsure about CHM, please give them a try. I believe you'll be pleasantly surprised.

We have been CHM members since 1/1/2015. We’ve had 4 children while being members and our experience with Medical Bill sharing has been great. CHM has always processed our requests timely and is always willing to help us through anything questions we have had. I do kinda feel bad about CHM requiring now $1500 initial unshared amount even though we get a discount from our hospital for being “Self Insured.” It used to be any discounts received would go towards our “out of pocket “ cost.

My best friend's mom had cancer and Christian Healthcare Ministries took care of her throughout the entire journey. She is now cancer free, without medical bills. Our entire family switched to CHM then, in 2016. CHM has taken care of my parents through multiple surgeries, and my sister in-law's pregnancy and delivery. I could not recommend CHM enough, our family will never switch.

Just my personal experience with CHM, They seem to always be missing information from the the hospital / doctors. Though I provided a majority of the information to member services they seem to always have a reason to say sorry they cannot help with the bill that I have. Since this happened I ended up just finding a traditional HMO insurance plan and canceled my CHM membership. Thank god, I ended up in the hospital a few weeks after I got the new insurance and everything is already covered and they even have every day broken down for me / costs that I owe / Co Pays where as CHM seems to just find a route to not help.. I had been a member before but got insurance from new employment but mid last year I had lost my job and needed insurance but at the time I could not afford it so I came back to CHM.. I don't recommend CHM, Find traditional insurance as they are more proactive and professional..

I’ve been a member for about 10 years. This has been the best solution for us. We do our best to truly take care of our health naturally and rarely need checkups and never ongoing prescriptions. We spend quite a bit out of pocket to eat well, take supplements and get plenty of exercise. I'm a chiropractor by occupation, and use my knowledge to make it happen for my family. Of course, there's no guarantees but do our best to keep the odds in our favor.
FWIW, “Health insurance” is a misnomer. Health is your body functioning properly—mostly that’s done by eating well, exercising, etc. And insurance is for unknown risk—not for scheduled checkups and ongoing prescriptions for chronic health conditions (eg, diabetes). Can you imagine the cost of car insurance if it covered oil changes and tire replacements?
I recognize CHM isn’t classified as insurance at all, but it works extremely well for our family and it actually covers services that would likely be denied for improper reasons by insurance carriers. We are so thankful for CHM!!!
