It's such a great museum for learning about local and state history! They have a lot of hand son activities for kids and adults. There's an interactive web camera on Gull Island, underwater cameras at katmai Park, microscopes and more!

This was just okay. There was an art exhibit going on when we were here. The Harrington house outside was cool to learn about the early Homer homesteading. This part is free. The museum proper costs $15 for adults if you’re not a member. It has a variety of Alaskan related memorabilia, including some taxidermy of wild life. You wouldn’t need more than an hour to look through things. So by that standard, I think the price was a bit high. Also a tour bus came and it became too crowded to be enjoyable. I think the admission should just be $5.

Amazing museum! Has a lot of information about wildlife and the Exxon Valdez oil spill. The highlight is definitely the homestead! There are so many old foods/medications/tools! If you are in Homer, visit this museum and make sure to talk to the front desk for a tour of the homestead!

Fantastic exhibits on Homer History, Valdez Oil Spill, Bears, and Sea life. There is so much to see here that you'll need at least an hour.

Don't forget to visit the Pratt Homestead Cabin and Pratt Museum Forest Trails outside.

We really enjoyed this museum. We learned about the Kilcher family who appear on Alaska the Last Frontier. We also learned about animals as well as Alaskan natives way of life. So many things from floor to ceiling to look at :).

Small.. Cheap.. Lots of information. Older lady at desk was very helpful and knew quiet a bit about the culture and history. It has local art from modern age people within the last few years and also stuff from tribes many years ago.. The back has animal info and a bird watching camera feed from bird island. Its worth going to once u hit homer to better appreciate ur surroundings

Used to be a good museum.
Now it’s just an art gallery for some local “Homeroid”.
Little or no exhibits of Native culture, Dena’ina and/or Katchemak Yupik.
Sorry, don’t recommend.
