What? Just one review so far? Just took a great walk with the staff of the Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies looking at plants, medicinal value, culinary value, and so on. It's at the top of the ridge overlooking Kachemak Bay, and a great, affordable 2.5 mile walk in a large nature preserve with restricted access (just us there....). The day was gorgeous and the flowers were bursting. I gather there are two hikes possible daily and I recall that there's a rate for adults, kids, and then families so maybe very affordable for families (always a good idea given the cost of a water taxi across the Bay!). We had a 10 year old with us and the staff were great with him.

Nagoon berry foraging this afternoon as part of the Wildcrafting series. We found a great patch of berries and made syrup and jam. The naturalists were very informative. What a beautiful view. A few cranes flew over. Delicious jam. Great group.

Our family of 4 visit Homer and find out the guided tour program at Wynn center . Easy to reserve online and arrived at a beautiful nature path . Our guide Anika is well knowledgeable and get along with kids during the whole trip. We tried some wild berry and observed large group of observe sandhill cranes . Highly recommend for people visiting homer which is affordable and informative.

One of our favorite activities this summer to do with our family of 5 (kids ages 6, 9 and 12). This summer we signed up for candle making class using native plants we found on the preserve, painted beads and made jewelry from devils club and made jam from berries we also found on the preserve. The teacher naturalists we’re amazing, we all loved them so much and we can’t wait to resume our classes soon!

I participated in the Weekly Wildcrafting- “blending harvested teas” program at Inspiration Ridge Preserve. It was absolutely a wonderful program with knowledgeable staff, beautiful landscape, and well organized. What a great experience and wonderful to have for the community.

Went for a guided hike. Guide was great, very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna we encountered, we were able forage and try several different types of berries. Had a great time.

Such a gorgeous place! We saw cranes and picked raspberries, blueberries, trailing raspberries and nagoonberries. Our guide was so knowledgeable and friendly - even as a local, I learned so much!
