Such a fun place to visit with amazing displays, gems and minerals for purchase, and an educational experience. It’s a tiny “gem” tucked away in Balboa and one of my favorite spots to check out during walks.

As native San Diegans, one of the highlights when we take guests on a tour of our fine town. It's a literal treasure trove of gems and stones set back in Spanish Village. The jewels are housed in glass cases with shelves that spin. Pricing on various pieces is so affordable. The people behind the counter have many stories to tell. We love this place. One of San Diego's best-kept "secrets."

The people there are very knowledgeable and very welcoming; so much so that my daughter, granddaughter and I joined the club and are currently taking lapidary classes! We are learning a lot of very useful and interesting techniques and the classes are affordable, the class sizes are small so we get all the personal one on one time with the teachers. The people there have a wealth of knowledge to share and we’re building a great network of friends. I highly recommend the club to anyone interested in learning the skills it takes to work the stones you have in a relaxed, no pressure setting that is just plain fun.

The gem society has so many amazing pieces to see. Some stones and gems look like they are from another planet. A must see if you are in balboa park.

Very worthwhile! Some displays are goofy, whereas others are full of marvelous specimens. It's just one room but it's still a lot to look at. You get to see the beautiful art center too. Pretty affordable jewelry, though I just browsed.

San Diego Mineral and Gem society is awesome. What a great place to learn all about gems and minerals. If you're into geology and mineralogy then you need to come to one of the monthly meetings.

If you are looking to learn about gem cutting, silversmithing or just curious about rocks and minerals, this is THE place to go.
There is also a juniors program so this is something the whole family can get involved in.
