I enrolled both of my sons for "tutoring" in September and paid upfront $850 for the 1st, 6th, and 12th month (ridiculous!) After a month of attending, the boys were not getting the assistance THEY required so I promptly removed them from the program. I was advised I would still be charged for the next month as they require a 30 day notice (also bogus). Now it is November and I'm being charged again $300 as if they attended for that past 30 days. Now, I'm out $1400, having to get a new bank account and my kids are behind in math. Luckily, I put them in another tutoring place (KidsPass) and they've gotten As on their math tests immediately... it hasn't even been a full 30 days!!

This type of skills building is for preventative purposes, not for filling in gaps in education. If you get your kids in this, start early. All they do is timed math drills over and over starting with single digit addition - my kids are in middle and high school. This did nothing for them. The "teacher" is more concerned about how fast they write the numbers over if they understand the concepts.

First, It's a great learning program for kids. However, based on my personal experience, I feel that I'm obligated to warn the parents out there that make sure you double check your bank accounts for overcharges. We took a month break in summer and informed Mr. Johnsen a few weeks ahead. He responded in email telling us that there would be no charges for that month. After we came back from the vacation, we noticed that we were charged as usual. It took us a few emails and finally a phone call to fix it. A few months later, the overcharge happened again! My kid concluded the Kumon program in September. We notified Mr. Johnsen in email to end the program at the end of September in advance. He acknowledged it in email and congratulated us for finishing the program . Yet again, we were charged in October for the services we never used. I subsequently sent an inquiry for the overcharge and haven't heard a response so far. For the above reasons, I took off 2 stars from the rating.

I visited kumon hoover twice, and both times, it was closed. I was given the assessment time at 1 p.m., and after reaching here, it's closed. I left voice mail, but no call back.

My child has been taking Kumon for almost two years. I have seen a boost in his self confidence in school. My son especially loves the “Kumon bucks” that he collects and can redeem for pencils, balloons and other prizes.
This has been a worthwhile investment in my child’s education

My son had problems reading in the first grade, and we signed him up for Kumon. Now, we are glad to say that he is reading at and above grade level! We attribute much of his progress to the Kumon curriculum. He doesn't have to participate in the reading intervention at school because of this progress. We will continue to do Kumon because we are believers!

I have twin boys in kumon Math since the third grade . They started off in Indiana before we moved here. The transition has been very easy thanks to the hard work of Dr Johnsen and his staff. My boys love it!!!! They love math and are doing very well (one son on level H and one will soon start I, which is not too shabby for 6graders). Dr Johnsen and his staff are always attentive, provide help whenever needed, their instructions are clear and the work plans suit their different needs and abilities. We are VERY pleased with the program and intend to complete it. Thank you, Dr. Johnsen, for helping my kids flourish and love Math!!!

Excellent learning center. I loved it and my son loved it. It laid a solid foundation for my son in reading and math. Hopefully will get back to it soon. Thank you for all you do!!!

The program is great. Is not too expensive, like other programs out there.
