Went in to get my son's immunization records transferred and complete a religious exemption form. Took a little over an hour, and everyone was very helpful. One woman working at Intake (Pam) was one of the nicest and sweetest people ever. Overall, a pretty straightforward process. Took a little long, but it was very busy on a Friday afternoon.

The front desk lost daughters papers to the have shot records to state transferred. We waited close to three hours and when we asked. Clerk found papers and said she would process them then. So now we wait again. No organization at all.

We just moved to Alabama. Having had a few negative experiences at other health departments, I was disappointed to learn that the fastest way to enroll my kids in school was to get their “blue card” here. The staff remained friendly and helpful.
We received the missing vaccination and got the cards updated and ready to go in a reasonable amount of time. The people here made an odious chore into something almost enjoyable.

THIS ISNT THE MEDICAID OFFICE. Go to 6515 University Drive for Medicaid help.

Because this health department is terrible with communication and service, maybe this review will help someone and save them some time. And if you can avoid visiting this place, do it. Their services are terrible and a major headache.

I would like to give this place zero stars for fails information and not really available for walk ins. I’ve tried 3 times his past months to try and be seen because I care for my health but do not have the extra funds to see a regular doc. They told me they take walk ins between the hours of 8am & 2:30pm. But every time I come to the place between those hours there’s either something wrong with staffing or they have their spaces booked for the day. Gave me a list that was supposed to be for other free clinics but that list is only regular primers that are full. I was speaking to the bald headed Afro lady in a nice calm voice about the issues and she automatically suggested that she call a supervisor even though I didn’t request for one so it’s really giving me the vibes of she do not want to do her job. The place was not full of people and the other staff was just laughing and conversing amongst each other. If you are in the area and are trying to be seen I suggest you just find an obgyn or family doctor before going there

Absolutely horrendous. Every employee is angry and dismissive, purposely enjoying making any transaction difficult. “Is this the form you are using because this is an old form.”
“Yes maam it’s the one I got of the website”.
She rolled her eyes. “Well ok”.
“So do I pay anything”.
“No”.
“Ok so how do I get the license?”
“ I don’t know, I will hand the paperwork over to the supervisor”
“So how will I get the license?”
“They will email or call you”.
“Ok, do you know when I can expect to hear from you?”
“No”.
Why do they PURPOSELY treat people like this?

Takes entirely too long to change the shot record over to Alabama from out of state. My son is missing school because of this.
