Our son is flourishing at HUA. We love the Christ centered approach to a whole child education. This school is NOT just about the academics, but about the mental, social and spiritual well-being of every child that attends. The academics are top-notch as well and our son will be well-prepared for college after graduation. The teachers and staff are so caring, they genuinely love each student and get to know them personally. This school has been a blessing to my family, I cannot recommend them enough for children that could benefit from a more personal school environment.

I visited the institution last week to seek an evaluation for my seventh-grade son, who has ADHD, and to potentially enroll him for the upcoming academic year. Upon my initial phone call, I conveyed that my son was not currently performing at grade level and that I was searching for a school capable of supporting him in reaching his full potential. The representatives assured me that this school would be a suitable match.

During our visit for testing, the staff exhibited a welcoming demeanor. Although I did not complete any application documentation then, I was requested to provide the application fee of $150 upfront despite not being issued a receipt. They emphasized the perceived excellence of the institution. We left the meeting with optimism, believing we had identified the ideal educational environment for my son.

However, we received an email indicating that our son was deemed unsuitable for the school. I was informed that he would not be able to compete at the level of the other eighth-grade students. While they expressed confidence that I would find a suitable alternative, they ultimately declined his admission. In retrospect, I wasted a $150 fee, as other schools I contacted indicated that they do not require application fees unless a prospective student has been accepted.

Hope United Academy has been such a blessing to our family! Our daughter, who was previously struggling academically, is thriving. We were seeking a Christ-centered, nurturing, and effective educational environment and we found all of these in Hope! As an educator, I was so impressed that I leapt at the opportunity to work there as well!

One of HUA’s greatest strengths is its dedication to multi-modal learning. Every lesson is thoughtfully designed to engage all learning styles—visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile—ensuring that students not only access content, but truly connect with it. This approach is especially impactful for students who thrive outside of traditional teaching models.

The faculty at HUA are passionate, patient, and highly trained in specialized instruction techniques. As a faculty member myself, I am able to see the dedication and love HUA teachers have for students, building strong relationships, focusing on academic and spiritual growth, as well as social-emotional development.

Hope United Academy is more than just a school—it’s a place where students with learning differences can thrive academically, spiritually, and personally, building confidence and skills that will carry them far beyond the classroom.

Hope United Academy provides a unique learning environment that allows kids to learn in a more customized approach than a traditional school model. The staff takes great pride in identifying the strengths and challenges of each individual learner and then adopting a learning plan that allows the student to excel within the structure of the classroom.

They do a wonderful job of balancing the needs of the individual within the context of the overall group. They provide many different opportunities for advancement for those students who are interested in participating in dual enrollment opportunities.

We think that you would be hard pressed to be able to find a more dedicated group of educators that are interested in the overall development of a child both academically and spiritually. Both of our daughters have loved the opportunity to be a part of this unique learning environment.

I only wish we had found Hope United Academy sooner. Our student is happy and learning. She is appropriately stretched and still protected from undue stress. Her classes are taught by loving Christian teachers, who are concerned not only for the academic achievement of their students, but also for their emotional and social well-being. The teaching standards are engaging and college preparatory. The students are encouraged to work in unity and compassion for one another. They are actively taught to encourage one another as well.
Angie Benner, the school founder, reminds me of Maria Montesorri. Her drive to answer God’s call in teaching underserved students wins me her admiration, but she is also greatly effective at employing teaching methods I’ve never seen used elsewhere. Not only do students with dyslexia and ADHD thrive with great teaching, but any student would benefit from having their unique academic needs taken seriously.
The atmosphere she has created at this dear school initially reminded me of the courtesy of Chic-fil-a, but later I came to realize that it’s more like a deeply Biblical church. She has created a new standard of putting students and families first, where the curriculum serves them and not the other way around. I am so grateful to the Lord for Angie being a role model in my daughter’s life.

Hope United Academy is a school that invests in their students in so many ways. Children can reach their potential through the structure, love, and support that the HUA staff pours into each child. Growth versus perfection is valued and children that may not be successful in a traditional setting can thrive at HUA.

We cannot recommend Hope United enough. It has been a wonderful fit for our son. Each teacher is purposeful in their planning and instruction to differentiate for our students. We had homeschooled for many years, but we had always hoped to find an opportunity for him to learn from other instructors. Traditional classrooms were not working. Someone told us about this amazing microschool in Madison and from our first visit, we knew that it was the right spot. He is in his second year and is thriving. There is nothing like Hope United in our area- wow! What a gift to have this in Madison!

Hope United Academy changed our entire world. We were blessed with an incredibly smart, neurodiverse son and had been desperately looking for a school that could meet his individual needs. HUA has exceeded our expectations in every way. Our son is thriving beyond our dreams. Angie Benner has an incredibly huge heart for these children and she has put together a team that has the same heart. They go above and beyond in learning each student's special learning challenges and then helping them succeed. They understand neurodiversity and teach outside the box! It's not just about academics either. They are in it for the whole well being of each student. There isn't enough room in this review to write all we wish to convey. Our son went from hating school to thanking the Lord every night for HUA.
