I attended the culinary arts program. The campus is beautiful and well maintained. Plenty of maps for directions. All the professors and instructors I had were kind, thoughtful, and experienced. They frequently have events on campus for different clubs and in general. The staff are knowledgeable and communicative. The main issue I ran into is that the NAU Transfer advisor on campus is not knowledgeable and does not respond to emails.

The head of the Graphic Design department would constantly talk about how you would make no money in this field & had a very defeatist outlook on things. If anyone piped up about their own ideals or dream jobs, she’d tell everyone how you couldn’t always get what you want & spew about how she had to give up her dreams a long time ago.

It was a really depressing experience and dampened the learning experience. Many Graphic Design professors would go on about the most basic used for tools & wouldn’t go into the more complex unless pushed. Citing we needed to learn that on our own & grade us with the expectation of being professionals from the start.

When I asked for accommodations at the disability office they gave me crumbs. It’s a really defeating experience to ask for the bare minimum from people who are supposed to support you and only give nothing in return. I wasted my savings on a diagnosis that in the end wasn’t enough to earn me proper accommodations for a learning disability. The ableism is enough to make a grown man cry.

This is probably one of the biggest jokes of a school that I have ever seen. The class I took was just terrible. The instructor wasn't even there for help. Many emails were sent and none were answered. I dropped my class because of how bad the biology department conducts their learning. Now they are refusing to refund me. I was promised good education and that was not given. So what's the point of not refunding me. Is it really that big of a deal to keep my money and charge me over and over again? I don't even know why it cost money in the first place. It was online only and the teacher wasn't ever there to help. Teacher was John nagy. Probably worst teacher I've ever had. So scottsdale community college, F off and give me my money back.

When SCC & the Dean had dozens of complaints submitted against a specific nursing teacher for verbal harassment (videos & emails as proof) they ignored it. It wasn't until the state board began investigating that they suspended the teacher. The teacher then quit & SCC fired the director who helped the students when nobody else would. The next semester the prior teacher's best friend was the instructor & suddenly things we'd been allowed to do for 2 yrs weren't permitted such as using scratch paper etc. It was retaliation at it's finest. I passed my classes so this isn't the review of a bitter student, it's the review of one who's ashamed of the college she attended. I will never recommend this school to anybody.

I will forever miss & value the time I spent at SCC. Really big, pretty campus with adequate parking & teachers who really care. You exist as more than just another number at SCC & it’s an awesome place to go to college: whether you’re just starting out or going back to school. It never feels like it’s overwhelmingly large & you can get most places on campus on foot within 10 minutes. I take every chance to take courses at this campus & recommend it highly.

I just wanna share my experience with y’all as International student’s point of view:

Jen and Barb we’re very helpful, patience and great during my process which it was in the middle of pandemic! So it was hard and stressful times for everyone.
All my paperwork went great thanks to Jen’s kindness, she took her time to explaining and solving my questions. And why Am I realized after a year at SCC? Well… (I’m trying to reach another community colleges because long short story: as a nurse applicant there is a waiting list at SCC which is not according to my plan) and other colleges in the country not really care about your struggles with the process/paperwork even when you as international ARE PAYING 3 TIMES THE REGULAR AMOUNT IN TUITION FEES!
4 out of 5 stars deserve mostly for welcoming center and international students advising department.
1 star is out because of the quality in the education system, is mostly okay; I enjoyed my biology classes but no much my English class… some Professor’s were struggling a lot with online learning method (because of covid).

Thank you SCC keep improving!

Students new to the college are not able to apply for classes that are in need of an advisor are (again) are NOT getting calls back in time to apply for the semester - cannot attend the semester. We would’ve liked two classes over the summer. Now we cannot add classes for the fall. It shouldn’t be this hard! The setup for appointments are booked up. It wasn’t that way when we could simply visit the school. If we are all unable to attend yet another semester - you just held back three students! Terrible.

I love Scottsdale Community College! The teachers are great, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the campus is very clean!

I do have some criticisms, however. The campus itself is beautiful, but it is not designed to human scale. The buildings are spaced very far apart, to the point where it's faster for me to drive my car between classes on some days.

In addition to that, the parking is frustrating on busy days, rivaled only by how long it takes to leave the parking lot when class is over. Too many stop signs.
