Kumon has done amazing things for my son. He is 6 and started when he turned 4. It’s a lot of repetitive work which was exactly what he needed. Never did they state their beliefs, religion, etc. we gifted them Christmas gifts last year and they gladly took them.
This last Halloween they sent out a letter to the parents stating they don’t celebrate Halloween, why they don’t celebrate it, and encouraged us to look some things up. No big deal. They gave it to the parents and nothing was said to the kids to my knowledge.
My 6 year old came into their facility 12/8 very excited about what his “elf” had done that day. He was told by one of the tutors that Santa is not real, his elf is not real, magic is not real. Not this girls place… I’m paying for my child’s help with math and reading, nothing more. This same tutor told my 6 year old that his parents are lying to him. She then confronted my husband and asked why we are lying to our son and creating a bad relationship with him. In front of my son.
In my eyes, anyone telling my son that his parents are liars, attempting to convince him not to trust his own parents, is a very unsafe person to be around my child. A tutoring facility should not be pushing beliefs on my family especially my child. Santa isn’t real is one terrible thing… BUT, attempting to convince his parents, his safe space, are not trustworthy… that’s a whole different situation.
Mrs. Welsh has always been very kind. It was her daughter who did this. Mrs Welsh has apologized for her daughters behavior. I just feel all parents should be made aware of what could happen.

Hello, I have always had a good experience at the Prescott Kumon center, both as a student, and as an assistant. I have enjoyed getting to know the kids families as time has gone by. Kumon is about teaching kids good comprehension skills and, learning the fundamentals in mathematics. I would recommend this program to every family that has kids. When I was a child myself, I had a hard time in school, because I didn't know how to read, or do math. It was very frustrating for me because, the teachers at school didn't know how to assist me. My parents had a friend that was running the Kumon center at the time, and they decided to enroll me, the following year I had made huge strides in my math and reading, abilities in school, that my parents thanked Kumon for helping their child. I have given back to the Prescott Kumon center over the years, because I want struggling students to gain confidence in their abilities, and gain their full potential. I cannot think of one negative comment to say about Prescott Kumon, because for the last 15 years Kumon of Prescott is helping any child struggling with a learning disability, or above average to reach their full potential.

I strongly advise to not take your children to this location. This is a place of learning not for your employees to push their religious views onto children. Without getting into to much detail, how dare they discuss against the lgbtq community to young children. Preaching Transphobia to children is unacceptable.

These reviews are fictitious from people who read about an incident from a Facebook post. This is a fantastic location, with caring staff. My child went here for many years with great success and we never had an incident like this. Before you go posting a negative review, ask yourself have you actually worked with this business?

Our child has been coming to Kumon for many years & we are extremely pleased with how well he is doing! Edith & her staff have always been wonderful! I always share our experience anytime I can with other parents! Thank you Edith & your team, we are extremely grateful for you all!

This place literally told my 6yo pseudo-nephew that Santa doesn’t exist and his parents are liars. I wouldn’t go anywhere near this facility with my child. I’m sure they’re going to “address” the issue… after they’ve already destroyed a sweet little boys Christmases for the next few years. Shame on you and that tutor should be fired and you should be sued. Stick to math like the parents pay for.

Awesome teachers and assistant!? They’re a blessing to my son and to the rest of the children helping them to learn and accelerate their levels in their classes. The assistant, Kirsten, she’s only 17 years old, she’s not only intelligent, but on top of it she’s sweet and kind. GOD bless you!

My son went to kumon for many years and now he is a straight A student at try city prep in Prescott. I believe the foundation he received in this facility was very helpful! I also know the owner personally and she and her family are good people.
