We are so grateful for Mrs. Heather. She helped us when we thought there was no where to turn for help. We noticed early on in VPK that our daughter was behind all the other kids academically. We thought maybe she just didn't mesh well with her teachers teaching. We remained aware of it but decided to see how she did in Kindergarten. As Kindergarten went on we noticed the same issues. She was failing all her tests, not following instructions correctly and she was failing Kindergarten. 3rd quarter after the school evaluated her they brought in a interventionist and she was pulled from class everyday for small group learning with a specialist. I noticed at home when I was trying my best to help her that she was very distracted and would just guess because she seemed bored and wanting to just finish her work quickly. Due to this and all of her tests and grades they made the decision that our sweet, smart little girl who actually loved going to school was going to be held back in Kindergarten. We did not agree with this being it was Kindergarten and we knew what she was capable of. About 2 months prior to school ending we ran into Mrs. Heather at a school event where she was promoting her tutoring services. We knew in our hearts that our little girl was very smart and there was just a disconnect somewhere. We began tutoring with Mrs. Heather. She was very flexible and worked with our busy schedule. I got the school to agree for us to work with our daughter all summer and then they would retest her to see if she was ready for 1st grade. After only a short month and a half of tutoring our daughter was retested and she was ready for 1st grade. We owe it all to the help of Mrs. Heather. Our daughter was bored and needed someone that understood her, was able to teach learning outside the box and made learning fun. She really does build her teaching around each child’s learning needs. We are beyond grateful.
