I really like Cynthia’s English lessons for two main reasons. First, she is very friendly and easy to talk to because she is positive, patient and doesn’t judge. She helps me with pronunciation, learning about American culture and practicing being more assertive. Now I speak English with more confidence. Her friendly and supportive way makes me feel encouraged. I am always happy after our lessons.

Second, Cynthia is very knowledgeable about nutrition, cooking, health, and lifestyle - she also teaches lifestyle medicine and cooking. We talk about these topics in our lessons. It’s more than just learning English, it’s also about reflecting on my life as a result of getting her professional advice.

I have been taking Cynthia's class since June 2019. I started to work in Bay Area in March. I realized I had many problems in English. I had a heavy accent and used wrong words frequently. The most painful is that I was too shy. It was difficult for me to communicate efficiently with my colleagues. I realized that I had to improve my English. After taking her class for half a year, my accent has improved greatly and I am confident to use daily words.
Actually, I tried to practice my English by watching TV series before. It did not have much help for my accent, because I did not have any feedback. It is impossible to change some pronunciation if I even do not realize it is wrong. That is the reason I decided to take English classes.
We usually have a topic per class. The content of class is flexible. Taking her class is fun and interesting. She is also patient and careful to point out my mistakes. She is always optimistic and encouraged me when I was upset. She is a good teacher, also a nice friend for me.
