Arizona Flight Training Center

Located in the vibrant city of Glendale, Arizona, the Arizona Flight Training Center (AFTC) stands as a prominent institution dedicated to excellence in aviation education. Operating from its base at 6799 N Glen Harbor Blvd, Glendale, AZ 85307, USA, AFTC provides comprehensive flight training services designed to equip aspiring pilots with the skills, knowledge, and confidence necessary for successful careers in aviation. Its strategic location within the United States offers a conducive environment for flight training, benefiting from relative climate stability and dedicated airspace conducive to learning.

Core Specialties and Services

The primary focus of AFTC is as a professional flight school. This encompasses a wide range of aviation training programs catering to various career paths and skill levels. Training typically includes the foundational stages of flight, such as the Private Pilot License (PPL), followed by the coveted Instrument Rating, which enables pilots to fly under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) in conditions of limited visibility. For those aspiring to commercial aviation, the school likely offers specialized training for the Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and, crucially, the Commercial Multi-Engine Rating. These ratings are often prerequisites for employment as a professional pilot with commercial airlines or in corporate aviation. Furthermore, flight schools like AFTC usually provide training for Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificates, representing the highest level of professional pilot certification required for flight instructors and First Officers in commercial operations. The school might also offer specialized training, such as flight instruction, mountain flying, or complex aircraft endorsements, tailored to meet specific student needs and regulatory requirements.

On-site Services and Accessibility

Convenience and accessibility are key considerations for students pursuing flight training. AFTC emphasizes a supportive student experience by offering on-site services directly at their facility. This means students seeking comprehensive flight training don't necessarily need to navigate complex logistics between ground school and separate aircraft rental locations. The center provides wheelchair-accessible infrastructure, including a wheelchair-accessible car park and wheelchair-accessible entrance, ensuring that the facility is welcoming and accommodating for all students, regardless of physical limitations, thereby promoting inclusivity within the aviation training community.

Student Experiences and Reputation

Word-of-mouth and student reviews play a significant role in the aviation industry. According to publicly available feedback, AFTC has cultivated a strong reputation for quality instruction and well-maintained aircraft. The 46 reviews on Google My Business, averaging a high score of 4.4 out of 5 stars, underscore the positive sentiment expressed by former students. Testimonials highlight exceptional teaching from specific instructors, praising their professionalism, detailed explanations, and dedication to student success. For instance, feedback specifically mentions instructors like Salvador and John, describing them as highly knowledgeable, patient, and effective in preparing students for critical phases like their check ride. The consistent praise for the quality of the aircraft and the emphasis on safety during training further reinforces the school's commitment to providing a robust and secure learning environment. These reviews collectively suggest that AFTC is not just a training facility but a community that fosters confidence and thorough preparation in its students.

For individuals exploring flight training options, AFTC presents a compelling choice in the Glendale, Arizona area. Prospective students interested in pursuing aviation careers should contact the center directly using their provided phone number, 623-877-9334, to discuss specific training programs, schedules, costs, and to arrange an introductory ground school session. Visiting their official website, flyaftc.com, offers detailed information regarding course offerings, aircraft types, instructor qualifications, and scheduling procedures. Given the high level of student satisfaction reported, the professionalism noted in reviews, and the school's focus on comprehensive flight training and accessibility, AFTC emerges as a reputable and recommended option for aspiring pilots seeking rigorous and supportive aviation education.

Location and Regional Context

Nestled in Glendale, Arizona, AFTC benefits from its location in a part of the United States known for its relatively stable weather patterns compared to other training hubs, which can positively impact training consistency. Glendale's proximity to major metropolitan areas like Phoenix and Los Angeles potentially offers a wider range of practice routes and airspace experiences. Being a dedicated flight school rather than an aircraft rental operation allows AFTC to specialize fully in curriculum development and instructor training, focusing resources on educational outcomes. This specialization, combined with the modern facility and positive student feedback, positions AFTC as a valuable resource for anyone looking to take their first steps into the world of aviation.

Salvador was great! He was very professional and went into detail about each part of the plane we flew. We will definitely be back so fly with him again.

I did my commercial multiengine add with John and I could not have been happier. He is super knowledgeable and will make sure you are ready for your check ride. The aircraft were well maintained and I always felt that safety was a priority. Highly recommend them!

I have 30 hours on my log from Jamestown NY, because i decide to come to Arizona for my graduate school, i had to change my flight school as well.
Before coming to this school, I was on cross county progress, and Instructor Patrick wants to do evaluation on my flight before going any further, which is fine.
Instructor Patrick think what i learned from other school was totally wrong, while i only have a few things to improve to finish up my cross country and do solo practice to prepare for the check ride.
I am not sure about other instructors, but Mr.Patrick was not patient about teaching, he interrupt me a few times when i was still doing a pre flight check. Sure I was taking longer than 15 mins and made some mistakes. But Mr.Patrick did not try to understand student and bias over my mistakes, he told me my time is up because i spent too much time doing pre flight check on the ground, and only let me finish my first landing on my second lesson.

The price of lessons are overly expensive, 390 on the first lesson and 262 on the second lesson. while my flight experience only had 2 landings and a few maneuvers in total.
below are evidence proven to support my negative comments, will sure update comments over my experience.

I have attended several different flight schools and Arizona Flight Training Center has been the best.

I am rather busy with work and thankfully AFTC has an accommodating scheduling process that is a great balance. Working full time and I am still able to come in and train at least 6 days a week.

Instructors have been very friendly and great to work with. Extremely knowledgeable and most importantly treat me like a customer, rather than just a student.

They are also VA approved 141 and Rick has been excellent help taking care of me. I am currently working on my CPL and my only regret is that I did not start training here sooner.

If you are looking for somewhere to go, you could simply save a lot of time by just starting here.

AFT welcomed us with open arms, providing thorough information to us, and offered the most amazing Discovery Flight so my son could decide with real experience if this is a career he truly wants to pursue. And after today's experience, YES!

The Family of instructors and the owner have found the perfect balance between Knowledge, Professionalism and Care! I was set to complete my 141 CFI Initial Course in ABQ but when I showed up to the school, they lost their CFI instructor for a Pilot job elsewhere. I’m glad I didn’t get my training in ABQ from instructors building time because they just don’t care! At Arizona Flight Training Center, the family of instructors are professional, full time, career instructors. And they’re not the type of instructors from the 1940s lol. They’re still somewhat hip and modern😂. Rick, the owner, not only guided me to the best and most affordable approach to training but he also fit me into his current student load pairing me with OUTSTANDING instructors like Kellie, Christian, Jerry and Sean! Pretty sure between these guys there was like 40 thousand hours or more of knowledge! And they’re all real people with families at home! You’ll get every penny’s worth plus genuine care to help you achieve your goals if you train here! Thank you Arizona Flight Training Center!

Can't say enough great things about this place. I had a short suspense to knock out 25 hours of multi engine flight time as well as my commercial multi engine add on. Rick (the owner) was able to get me scheduled with a DPE and coordinated for me to be there and fly for two weeks to knock out all the hours and the check ride. Between the two MEI's I got to fly with (Sean and Rick) I was more than prepared for success and was able to knock out the hours and check ride with no problems. Absolutely feels like a family environment and they make you feel welcome from the moment you walk through the door. If you're in the Phoenix area and looking to start your journey into aviation I would highly recommend you give Rick and the team at AFTC a call.

I am currently enrolled in their 141 program and just earned my private pilot license. I am moving towards my instrument rating with my instructor Kellie T. who I could not be more impressed with (it’s not often you get an instructor as experienced as Kellie who actually enjoys teaching and isn’t just building hours). The school is well organized, friendly and inviting. From the the first person you meet (JudyAnn) to the owner (Rick R.) you are welcomed by a knowledgeable professional who is excited to get you onboard. All the planes are thoroughly maintained from their in house aircraft maintenance shop. The assistant chief (Sean) who I did most of my stage checks with was a wonderful resource of information. I also worked with Matt D. (Instructor), his teaching style and knowledge make for a great instructor! I went into my checkride fully prepared and look forward to many more ratings with AFTC!
