I wanted to start taking jiu jitsu classes and after looking at some other gyms in the area I decided to sign up at Bay Area Boxing. The staff here knew my name after my first session and are always super welcoming and helpful. I started taking jiu jitsu classes with Jake D, Jake Tipton, Nick and Brian and they are all fantastic instructors, who are welcoming and helpful whether it’s your first class or your hundredth. The same can be said for the other coaches and members, everyone has a great attitude and is very friendly. I would recommend Bay Area Boxing to anyone looking to get into martial arts or is looking for a place to mix up their exercise regiment while looking to make some great friends in the process.

I've going to Bay area boxing for a couple months now for jiu jitsu and I can't say enough how beginner friendly the coaches and the community is, everyone wants to help.
Both Nick and Jake are so nice and understanding. If you are looking for a place but scared, come to the trial class and you won't regret it

Bay Area Boxing is awesome! I've benefitted a lot from the kickboxing program. It's helped me to get stronger and fitter. The trainers are really good, they take time to make sure everyone's doing it right. The soundtrack is a blast. Highly recommended!

Bay Area Boxing is the undoubtedly best martial arts gym you will find on the peninsula. I walked in there with little muay thai experience and have been training muay thai for over a year. The coaches are amazing. Coach Mendoza is an amazing muay thai coach for people just starting out and for those who are competition level. He really knows his stuff. his training sessions are not easy, though, but if you stick with it you will see the rewards. all of the coaches are fantastic and super helpful. they will all give you advice to help you towards your goal. the community is outstanding. the people who train muay thai and jui jitsu come in to train every single day and have been there for years. there are plenty of really good fighters in there that are always super happy to help you improve. the community is focused on working hard and helping each other, compared to other gyms where there are a lot of egos. overall, BAB has the best coaches, facilities, and community to make anyone into a better fighter, regardless of their skill level when they join.

With zero experience, my wife and I joined back in May and it's been one of the best decisions we've ever made. We've gotten to take the conditioning classes as well as the Muay Thai classes and enjoy all of them. The coaches here are extremely knowledgeable as they constantly push you and teach you new techniques/work on your skills. Both the staff and members of the gym are all super friendly making for a welcoming atmosphere and we've made plenty of friends since joining. I'd 100% recommend this gym for anyone as we've had family who have joined and love it as much as we do. Thanks Bay Area Boxing!

Since April 2023 until January 2024, I've been going 2 times a week to Bay Area Boxing every week! I've done both boxing and kickboxing, with maybe 6/7 coaches in total. All of them extremely good.

Personally I've been doing boxing for over a year, but often in classes see people with a lot more of years of training or just beginners. The coaches always walk around and see your form to see how you can improve, and are always happy to answer questions - it's a very good environment for beginners, but also for experienced athletes since the coaches have a lot of experience.

I particularly recommend the BayFit Boxing classes with Michael Rodriguez, which always have the best soundtrack and most punches/minute, or the Boxing Fundamentals with Alexey Bulankov to improve your technique

Both Jakes (the owners) are friendly and super helpful. I never had a problem that they couldn't help me with, even if sometimes I send a late message to ask for an extra slot to a class that I didn't sign up on time.

I'm leaving the gym because I am moving to a different state for work.

I cannot recommend this place enough.

Bay Area Boxing first welcomed me back in 2020. I was very shy about going there, but Jake was very welcoming and helpful on my first day. They have a wide range of classes such as kick boxing, muay thai, to ju jitsu. Classes are offered from early morning to late evening to accommodate all different schedules. Their coaches are all friendly and offer all sorts of advice, tips, and tricks to help you perfect that punch. What sold me on the gym was the welcoming & non-judgmental atmosphere and seeing how diverse the community is there. Personally, I've made some great friends there and it wouldn't have happened if I didnt step out of my comfort zone and joined Bay Area Boxing! Thanks Jake and everyone at gym!!
p.s. - the first session is free so go give the gym a try. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I’ve been working out regularly for about 10 years. I’ve been to all types of gyms and Bay Area Boxing is definitely my favorite. They have an amazing and accessible owner, Jake. He is willing to help you in any way, from developing workouts to spotting you if your gym partner stood you up. The instructors are also exceptional, they are all very friendly and knowledgeable.

They have a lot of classes throughout the day which are all fun, exciting, and challenging. I don’t feel out of place like I’m just going to the gym as a chore, I feel like I’m going to workout with friends because the members are equally kind and respectful. If you are at all interested in martial arts, weightlifting, or just an intense cardio workout, I highly recommend Bay Area Boxing.
