I have nothing but great things to say about Big Rig Driving Academy. I have 2 young kids and a full time job with a rotating schedule, if they could accommodate my schedule they can make it work for anyone. That being said I spent nearly 4 months with these guys and gals 1 to 2 days a week and enjoyed my time there. The atmosphere is laid back and you are usually paired up with an instructor 1 on 1. You can also choose if you’d like to train/test with either an automatic or stick. Prior to starting class I had little experience driving with a trailer, last week on my first attempt I passed my test!

Was a driver instructor trainee for only 2 weeks here. The school was not fully organized and still developing. When they hired me they knew beforehand I had no teaching experience in this field except helping other drivers on the road. One of the instructors whom I recieved my cdl license from in a different school 4 years ago on the first try with 65hr training with trucks that were not well maintained yet I graduated the first time this instructor vouched for me. Unfortunately with the being understaffed and great demand of his time he wasn't able to spend as much time needed to train me properly. I was fired after the second week saying students were complaining I was talking over them etc. I never got a direct complaint from any student. I'm careful to be encouraging, informative, and sensitive to others. I'm not there to make enemies but to work help students succeed carry my weight of responsibilities. I loved helping. I looked forward to honestly getting up in the morning and heading into work. I thought wow I never thought I could find such fulfillment in a career. The first time a student starting getting what I was teaching in maneuvers my heart leap with joy. I'm like I wonder if this is what parents feel like when their kid succeeds. I was always early to work, went the extra mile. I was enthusiastic in investing ideas to help improve the school I was all in literally. I was told that they had to worry about ratings online etc. Well I did some online research. No reviews were written yet. So apparently there was lies spoken to me etc. I asked if I could just work for their umbrella company driving trucks I was told no by the program manager that he couldn't in good conscience send me over there it would make the school look bad by firing me and then sending me over there. How about worrying about discrimination more than anything. I was fired two weeks before Thanksgiving just around the holidays. I'm not the only instructor they fired with only a couple weeks. Totally unprofessional and I worked my tail off to learn everything I could to be a better instructor all to be canned a couple weeks in. Everything is backwards when your standing outside the cab so you need to retrain your brain. As far as over talking a instructor teaches and ask questions it's our job. I didn't know where each student was at in their training I was just learning all this. So instead of critiquing and firing me and complaining they could of spent more time in organization and training. I hope this reaches cooperates eyes so Bozzuto can have a sit down meeting with Jim to discuss how to better treat new employees. You worry more about reviews than building up your team members it's terrible I left broken that night and I'm a grown man. It's a job at the end of the day but too me it WAS more than a job it was my passion.

This is a great place to come and get your cdl! They are very knowledgeable in this field and do everything they can to help you pass. It’s usually one on one training but they also put you with other students ahead of you to help you understand more of what needs to be done. All very great people who work here and couldnt recommend this place enough!
