Amelia came out to where we live in Narragansett to walk around my back yard and tell me what I had in my yard that I could eat or do tinctures. I’ve been studying this for a while by myself and I don’t use any pesticides on our lawn , but I was absolutely blown away by everything I learned from Amelia. First she has a wonderful way of teaching and showing you if you want help taking a picture or writing something down next to the plant in your yard —she’s extremely helpful. She points out the differences between edible weeds That I could put in a salad but have slightly different leaves so I know which is what. She knows a lot and communicated it to me very well!!! I figured I had wild, lettuce, white clover, and a few other things but what I did not know that I have native Berries that unbelievably, I kept trying to cut down as weeds. I have a black cherry tree. It’s a huge tree as this is an extended family house where I was raised, and no one ever told me all these years that I could eat all the cherries on that tree. and she told me about so many more Plants and things that people call weeds all in the backyard —and this was in October When things are winding down. I cannot wait to ask her back in the spring. Please have her come out to your backyard. You will be amazed at all the things you can eat and do with what, well in my case, I’ve been looking at all these years and never seeing. I wish I had known this when my kids were young. They’re in college now, But I’m very excited for when they come home from vacation to show them what is in the backyard for dinner. And she ate the weed or plant or leaf, and I did too, and that invited me to taste these edibles and get comfortable with what is literally outside my back door. It was a wonderful experience thank you I feel very motivated to keep exploring and learning- and going shopping in my backyard! I’m posting a few photos, but it’s just a small sampling of everything that I learned.

Amelia is truly dedicated to her community and goes above and beyond to help others, no matter where they are. When I reached out to her for assistance from Colorado, she immediately connected me with a knowledgeable person just 15 miles from my home. I was genuinely amazed by her quick and thoughtful response. If you're looking to embrace a more nurturing, wholesome lifestyle, I wholeheartedly recommend Amelia and Black Sun Farm. She has a unique ability to guide you toward a calmer, gentler way of living that may be exactly what you've been searching for. Her retreats are not just getaways—they're profound educational experiences that leave a lasting impact.

Ameila did a walk through of our property with myself and my husband, just 2.5 acres. She helped us identify all the edible berries (5 different types plus wild grapes), walnut trees, different types of birch trees, wild lettuce, Turkey tail mushrooms, and more! Also pointed out invasive species to remove, lack of poison ivy, and how to make the most of the fields of berries we have lol! Very knowledgeable about herbalism as well, we made a tincture and bought her healing balm that is amazing!

Amelia of Black Sun Farm is certainly full of knowledge and skills in teaching foraging of herbal medicines and foods. She taught me many things about what is growing in my yard and what I can do with them. I found her to be affordable, knowledgeable and would be glad to learn much more from her.

We had her come to my home and teach a foraging class to a small group and we all learned a lot about the abundant gifts from God that are literally everywhere you look. I learned that I have 2 elderberry trees thriving on my property, while the two I purchased 3 years ago are struggling. I learned about many more things about my property. It was certainly a blessing to find these treasures right in front of me. Thank you, Amelia. I highly recommend her foraging walks. I look forward to more events with Amelia of Black Sun Farm.

With the ever changing world we living in, it’s important to know how to live symbiotically with the land. If you’ve ever been interested in learning herbalism but weren’t sure were to start, Amelia at Black Sun Farm is a great resource. We took an Herbalism 101 class with her recently. We had a tour of the farm where she identified multiple plants and their uses. She provided supplies to make our own herbal remedies to take home. I have purchased multiple products from her online shop as well that I swear by. Amelia has really helped me to build the confidence I needed in being able to take my herbalism studies further.

Amelia @Blacksunfarm traveled all the way from Connecticut, to Ohio to help me identify vegetation on my 40+ acres. We hiked through woods, around fields, and even found wild growing plants in the back yard! I learned all about the medicinal, edible & poisonous plants I had growing. She identified soo many plants, shrubs and trees. It was such an enjoyable day. I would highly recommend her and encourage anyone interested in learning about edible plants to sign up for one of her classes!
