My kids have been attending blended minds since they open back in September 2024 and honestly I enjoy having them as a child care center. The center my kids were in before they were there for about 2 1/2 years and I was so nervous of moving their daycare because we moved to another side of town & i’m not an easy person to trust just anyone with my children, but Jakob, Ms.Cheryl, Kavunna Edwards, Kayla(one of the toddler teachers) & a few others have made me feel comfortable as well as my children. IF an incident was to happen it could be the slightest thing I am contacted ASAP. if my children need coaching, I am contacted and we work together on how we can change things within the center. 5 stars around the board. Appreciate you all!!

I was seriously considering enrolling my son, who is on the autism spectrum, in this Academy with his little cousin who is also on the spectrum. However, I have recently learned that they exclude children whom they label as having behavior issues. As a parent of a child with autism, I want to emphasize that autism is not merely a behavior issue; it is a developmental disability that affects communication, social interaction, and learning.

The thought of sending my child to a place that I believed would be safe and inclusive is now filled with concern. I cannot fathom the possibility of my child being treated differently or, worse, excluded from activities and field trips simply because the staff may not know how to support a child with special needs. Inclusion and understanding are vital for children like mine, and I believe that every child deserves the chance to participate fully in their education and social experiences without the fear of rejection. It's sad to think that a school might prioritize a narrow definition of behavior over the unique capabilities and needs of children on the spectrum.

"My 4-Year-Old Daughter with Autism Deserved Better: if your child has a disability then don't bring them here!

Experiencing Exclusion and Discrimination at Daycare. Me and my child deeply saddened by the experience we had at this daycare. She has autism, and when the previous owners managed the facility, there was a genuine sense of care, understanding, and respect for her unique needs. They treated her as an individual and ensured she was safe and included. However, that sense of compassion and reliability disappeared when the new owners took over. It became clear that her safety and inclusion were no longer a priority, despite my efforts to make things easier for them by hiring a dedicated disability aid to support her for 6 hours each day. This left the daycare responsible for only 2 hours, yet they still struggled to meet her needs.

The turning point came during a planned trip. The teachers initially reassured me that my daughter would be safe and supported throughout the day. But as the trip approached, they informed me that if I couldn’t personally attend, she would not be allowed to go simply because of her disability. The weight of that realization—that she was being excluded because of something beyond her control—was heartbreaking. While all the other children got to experience this trip together, she was left behind. Discrimination, especially against a child with a disability, is not only unfair; it’s heartbreaking.

Shortly after, the bus transporting the children was involved in an accident. I believe this was God’s way of reminding me of His protection over my daughter. You see, God doesn’t like ugly, and it doesn’t sit well when anyone mistreats or excludes others—especially his children. Having some time to reflect, I now know that removing my daughter from this daycare was the best decision I could have made. I won’t allow her to be anywhere she isn’t truly wanted, understood, or supported.I hope the new owners take this as a serious call to examine their approach. Every child, regardless of their challenges, deserves an equal place, understanding, and the opportunity to feel valued and included.
