This chess camp is an absolute gem! My kids absolutely adore it and can't wait to go back on the next holiday or day off from school. The perfect mix of chess instruction and outdoor fun keeps them engaged and excited from start to finish. They not only sharpen their chess skills with fantastic lessons but also enjoy plenty of playtime on the playground, sports like soccer, basketball, and Gaga, and indulge in pizza and ice cream for lunch—what more could a kid ask for? The coaches are incredible, creating a fun, welcoming environment that makes it hard for my kids to leave at the end of the day. Highly recommend for any child who loves chess and fun!

Our 10 yr old loves the camp. Every day she tells us some new opening, strategy or other learning at chess. Friendly staff, pleasant kids, and conveniently located at our local school.

Our 4 year old joined ChessNYC for a week of summer camp and had never played chess, but within minutes of arrival on day 1 he was sitting with other kids and a coach learning and having a blast! The team does a great job adapting to different ages and skill sets, and mixes in fun games and outdoor play between chess sessions. Coach Alan really helped make my son comfortable so thank you! Definitely recommend for parents wanting a fun way to keep their kids busy and learning!

I recently enrolled my child in a NYC chess summer camp, and it has been an outstanding experience from start to finish. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and have a natural talent for teaching kids. They use creative methods to explain strategies, making complex concepts easy to grasp. My child not only learned the rules of chess but also developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The class is well-structured, with a perfect balance between instruction and playtime. I highly recommend this chess camp to any parent looking to give their child a strong foundation in chess while developing essential life skills.

awful program. in their many so-called lessons and camps, their instructors just play youtube videos. mr. michael propper, the owner, becomes very aggressive and dismissive, should you ever disagree with him. far better options in nyc.

Love Chess NYC! We worked with Michael to bring a chess competition to City Hall Park on a recent Saturday and it was a wonderful experience. All coaches and staff were a pleasure to work with, very organized and most importantly - fun and good people.

Unprofessional
I've never seen such an attitude during my time being in New York. I contacted the club so that my child could attend chess classes at least one hour a week (since this is a chess club). As we are a low income family, I was interested in programs for such families. At first they said that they had some kind of financial program, and then they began to write that if I have nowhere to send my child for the summer, I should go to another place for socially vulnerable segments of the population, and this was after more than a month of correspondence. Every time somebody from the team asked me to provide more information Why not to tell it from the very beginning? I even tried to clarify everything in-person, arriving to the address stated in the internet, but on the phone call I was told: we won’t open it for you if you’re not in the program. Why mislead and humiliate people and marinade with vague answers for more than a month?
