Coast is a very professional flight school. I received my IFR through CFII with them and I could not recommend them enough. If I did it all over again, I would have started with them at PPL and went all the way with them. I recommend them to anyone.

Very nice school however felt when I was there the instructors seemed to not really care. I went through 4 different instructors and only 1 seemed to actually care about teaching. Dejan was an excellent instructor but one of other ones only had 40 hours till the airlines and seemed to just give up on helping me improve in the air and on the ground would just sit on his phone when doing ground lessons. Wouldn’t recommend having such a high price for the school when the learning experience is poor. However Planes were nice and well taken care of. Unfortunately when I left it has taken an exceptional amount of time to get my money back from my account with them. so now I’m paying I’m paying a large amount of interest on money I haven’t even spent. They need to get their stuff together.

Coast Flight has been an amazing school to train at so far and I highly recommend it! I am in their general training/ part 61 program going at my own pace. Coast has a curriculum laid out that all their students follow which helps keep me on track and progressing forward. I have the flexibility to create my own schedule each week and choose how many days and events I'd like. The scheduling team is very accommodating to any requests, which is so helpful since I work in addition to training. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable here, and coming from absolutely zero experience in aviation, I have learned so much about what it means to be a PIC (shoutout to Zach!!). Flight training is all about what you put in, and if you put in the effort you will learn something valuable every time you step through those doors. I'll say my passion for aviation has grown exponentially since being with Coast and training alongside some great people. San Diego having such complex airspace and a high volume of traffic, you will become a better pilot here no doubt! Also the views…are unreal! The 6 pack archers and kmyf will forever have a special place in my heart! Thanks Coast!! I’m excited to keep moving through my ratings!

Coast is an outstanding place to both train AND work. I have watched pilots take their very first flight in a single engine plane and then become instructors right before my eyes. Students I have met on day 1 of their training just a couple years ago are already off flying for airlines and living their dream. We have amazing aircraft, top of the line talent, and one hell of a maintenance team keeping our pilots safe and flying the max amount of hours per week. You won't find another school where you can fly this many hours a week and breeze from your private to the airlines before you can blink an eye!

If you have any interest in aviation at all - be it figuring out if you're interested in pursuing aviation as a career or hobby, getting your private pilots license for personal use or starting a career as an airline pilot - this is the place to start. They are absolutely fantastic! Every single person associated with Coast is spectacular - they are helpful and accommodating and truly want the very best for each and every person who walks through their doors. Ariana is awesome and is always willing to listen and accommodate your needs and schedule; every single flight instructor I've met has been friendly, professional and passionate about aviation and their students. The school is willing to work around your availability and schedule - I work full time and have a family and am able to train weekends only - at my own pace - during the hours that work best for me. My flight instructor, Nick, is what legends are made of. He's passionate, calm, understanding, professional, charismatic, friendly and he's a phenomenal instructor. Nick recently moved on to the airlines and I have worked with instructors Olivia, Ryan, Cynthia and Zach - and they are all just as passionate, friendly, calm and professional. There really isn't a better place to go if you want to pursue aviation. If you have any interest in obtaining your PPL (or beyond), this is the place to call.

After finishing my training I knew I wanted to stay as an instructor and continue being apart of this flight school. The main reason I wanted to be here was the atmosphere we have. Instructors are always offering their support. On top of that, the aircraft used for training are some of the best planes you’ll find around.

Coast Flight Training is an exceptional place to learn how to fly for anyone that wishes to step foot into the world of aviation as a future career path or even if you would just like to pursue a life's dream of being a pilot. I myself have been training with Coast Flight Training and everyday I show up to learn I always leave with a smile on my face and a desire to come back and learn more. The facilities, staff and instruction received is some of, if not, the best in the San Diego region.

Just passed my checkride last week and got my PPL. I was trained under Part 141 part-time and the whole process took me ~10 months (including a month off with personal reason) and ~70 hours of flight. Every instructor I met was very nice and patient, in addition to their high proficiency in everything necessary to becoming a successful pilot. The instructor and aircraft resources were pretty abundant, and scheduling was pretty flexible. I had rarely encountered scheduling difficulty throughout my training. All aircrafts were well maintained and they took safety very seriously. The rate for the aircraft was indeed higher than in a flying club or some other school, but given everything they'd provided, I think it was worth it. Overall the entire process was very well organized and smooth. I would highly recommend this place for anyone interested in getting a PPL just for fun.
