It has been years since my husband and I each received our graduate degree. When our daughter decided to pursue a Doctorate degree in English, we felt sure she could apply by herself. She was carrying more than a full load of courses during her final year of a double major bachelor degree. Four months later when each of the universities she applied denied admission, it came as a surprise to both her and us. We did not realize that entering Graduate School has become very competitive. More and more undergraduate and workers are returning to obtain post graduate degrees in order to obtain an edge to either a first job or to improve their chance for advancement or pay increase. We realized that we must come up with Plan B. A friend referred us to “College Launch”. Because we sprung into action immediately, we had almost six months to work with “College Launch”, in particular Tammy. She is thorough, intuitive, very hands on and creative in how she motivates the candidate, coaching, guiding, leading, providing insight and alternatives, monitoring and encouraging the student in their application process. She made cold calls to inquire about campus visits, university program details and came up with schedules and deadlines, all the things we untrained parents and student alike are not familiar with. Thankfully to both Tammy and truly focused work of our daughter, she received a fantastic offer from one of the universities she applied for. This fall, she will be heading to a program she wished for, with a great financial package.
We cannot ask for a more professional, thoughtful and efficient college counselor than Tammy and her team. “College Launch” has been a truly valuable asset for our daughter and her future.
