My mother live in Columbus Colony Housing I. Those apartments are listed as government subsidized such as HUD Section 8. There is CCH II attached to CCH I, but they are for people who pay more. Nice place yet not architecturally built as DeafSpace.

I don't know who the naysayers are on here. I have lived there five years an encountered none of that. Any problem including bedbugs are taken care of when they know about it. No more drama than any other place and yes many know signs and can speak in the office. As for ch2 no those are not for people who can pay. Both sides are the same rent and if you are on his just 30 percent. Remember this is a apartment complex not a nursing home or even an assisted care.

If your loved one is deaf and you are thinking this is the perfect place for them you are wrong. Do not send them there if they rely primarily on sign language. Most of the staff I encountered did not know sign. When you call there and are on hold the recording says "all staff are trained in american sign language" this is not true. Columbus Colony is managed by an outside company now. Ohio School for the Deaf board is involved but not like it used to be. The best part of Columbus Colony for a deaf person is the deaf community there definitly not the care. The deaf social worker, the interprerers and the 1kitchen staff person are the greatest assest to this facility. The care is not good. Nursing staff are foreign with thick accents which makes communication had when you can hear, let alone if you are deaf. My parent had items lost/missing and they kept saying it was his fault. We are not having this problem at his new facility. He is not missing one thing now that there has been a move back to our hometown. I moved him out after 1 month of hell for him and our family. I do not recommend this facility to anyone deaf.

This is a housing complex FULL of DRAMA and problems. They slander people's names and reputations based solely on the gossip of a few residents. It is not a safe or clean place to live, especially for anyone elderly. They have bedbugs and roaches, break ins and thefts. Recently some machine? was broken into INSIDE this facility and because someone there has a personal problem with my mother in law they accused her, her son and myself of this CRIMINAL OFFENSE. I am offended and outraged that such a SLANDEROUS and DEFAMATORY accusation would be taken as far as to get onto Facebook and print photographs of myself, my fiance and mother in law as well as a family friend and POST our photos on some wall there. I intend to file a lawsuit and any other applicable charges against CCH Management asap. I have only been to this place 4 years ago and SAW roaches and have not since ever returned. A CURRENT resident and employee have both told me they have a bedbug problem thus I have no desire to visit and risk those things coming to my home. I would NEVER allow my elderly parents to live in this environment EVER.

My father lives there and the bed bugs are disgusting he just had a kidney transplant and they are expected him to lay in blood sucking insects after he has an open womb I will be filling a lawsuit against them
