Harold Wise was correct in his review. This state does not care about education. Assessments do not matter because they really don't care about where kids need help. It's about how much money they can get and hold on too. The schools are failing miserably because nobody is holding them accountable. School boards do whatever they want because parents don't stand a chance with the state taking a hands off approach. They have a state special education department..for what? They never answer the calls, rarely call back and if they do you better hope you don't miss it because
they don't leave a name and you will have to start over. And if you do speak with someone they won't answer any questions and will tell you they don't know and have to ask a supervisor and call you back. Cycle repeats.. like a hamster on a spinning wheel in this state! It is absolutely corrupt!

I don’t recommend no parent to allow their child to attend any Charter School. The teachers and staff don’t care for no student education. My child hit depression as soon as she entered a charter school. I been trying to have a sit and talk with the principal and let msgs and have not gotten any respond from him. Went to the school personally to speak with him and he wasn’t trying to sit and talk. He talk over the parents doesn’t allow no one speak nor like to hear the parents speak. My child is a students and never got into no issues through all her whole school years. Until she entered Great Oaks. That is very uneducated half
Of the teachers are very young and don’t care for the students educations. It has gotten to the point that already a child committed suicide do to the irresponsibility of the Principal and staff. Lack of knowledge and very pure education skills. Teacher will flunk students just because they dislike the students. Instead of helping and being a mentor as a teachers They prefer to just fail them. My child has had issue with her school work where there was a teacher constantly flunking and reporting that she never gave them any assignments. It has gotten to the point that I sat with my child and help with school work and homework and made sure the work was handed in and the teacher reported that it was never turned in. That shows me that these teacher are not in it to help with children education there are in it for the paycheck. This might sound ridiculous to who ever read this. But this is a real life situation that my child is going through and believe me this could be anybody child and their education. GREAT OAKS IS A UNPROFESSIONAL, UNEDUCATIONAL SCHOOL. LACK OF TEACHING, LACK OF CARING FOR OUR CHILD EDUCATION. Please don’t allow your child to atttend any charter school is not going to benefit their education at all. The teacher and principal do not care for your child education!!!!

Terrible! No one and I mean absolutely no one will pick up the phones or call you back if you leave messages. If you have a child with special needs or delay in speech youre better off letting them watch Ms. Rachel on YouTube to learn because these people won't pick up the line to provide you with resources. Thanks CT 😊

The CT State Department of Education is an incredibly corrupt state department that looks the other way as students with disabilities in CT schools are punished much more harshly than other students, laws are broken by school districts and complaints are pointless as they always side with school districts even when clear laws are broken. Ultimately the SDE does not care about the education or rights of students with disabilities. Do not send your special needs child to school in CT and if you do, plan on having an attorney on retainer to battle the school district constantly. There is a lot of talk of “equity” by this department and school districts in CT but this doesn’t apply to students with disabilities, they simply do not care.

Horrible for special needs children. Children go without services and are not feeling heard. They never send homework and communication amongst the schools and parents is awful. You can call and complain if you like but no one will follow up nor help.
