Training here has been an amazing experience for my son and me! The coaches are very attentive to individual needs and attributes during classes. I've noticed my son gaining confidence and better attentiveness in life since training here as well. Being an Army combat veteran, I can honestly say this is the best workout I have ever had, challenging me everytime I show up.

We have been a part of the juijitsu family for almost a year now. I love the bonds that I see forming between team members. Also love how there are multiple coaches watching, coaching, and engaging with the kids. You can tell this family is very passionate about what they do and they do a very wonderful job of sharing the martial arts with others.

This place is absolutely excellent in every aspect. They focus on teaching practical skills in a safe and comfortable environment. All of the coaches as well as the other members are there to help see everyone grow as individuals and as a team. I could write several paragraphs on how this facility excels on strengthening the community by strengthening the family, but I will keep it short..This is truly an exceptional gym!

Cultivate Power has been so amazing for my
Son. Just from my perspective as a mom, they treat my son so well and like he is part of a family/team. They’ve welcomed him and have taught him so much already. Including respect for others, which is huge for me

From my perspective as a long-time preschool teacher, they remembered his name immediately, they have clear routines and guidelines for the kiddos. Every child knows what’s expected of them and what they are capable of. Not only do they have high standards but they have compassion when a child gets hurt, or when they can’t do something yet and lead as an example. This has been so positive for us as family, and other than being tired after a long day of school, Lincoln looks forward to his practices. And he’s starting to be less fearful of things, which is why I originally signed him up.

Update for clarity since they responded: Sideline coaching was never brought up until we said we were leaving. The reason my husband constantly kept communication from sidelines was because the coaches supervision was lacking. And to provide a timeline, we pulled our kids out due to YET ANOTHER incident, and then the coaches claimed via text that they had just discussed the issue that day before class. To be clear, the incidents to which we are referring include knee barring and stacking your opponent on their neck, with a disregard for safety and clumsy movements. Whatever discussion they had didnt help and didnt result in increased supervision and they continue to allow the same behaviors. To the comment these things take time-- it's not that deep. Simple coaching would have helped. Bottom line, it's not that difficult or that deep to coach up the kids on safety in the moment, but you seem incapable and fully ready to blame the children. And in a response elsewhere in these reviews, you stated that the child with the back injury is still training with you but I know people still training with CPFA who said she is NOT back.

We are referring to unaddressed safety concerns that we discussed with coaches numerous times. When we finally decided not to renew, the coaches flipped the script and said they'd been getting complaints about MY kids all along, something we never heard of until we were gone. So be prepared for that. Just glad we are gone.

I have had the pleasure of enrolling my child in the jujitsu class at Cultivate Power Fighting Arts, and it has been a wonderful experience!

The instructors are incredibly patient and engaging. They break down complex techniques into simple steps that even the youngest athlete can grasp. I would like to specifically highlight Coach Jennifer as a wonderful mentor and great example to the kids. Her dedication and passion for teaching are evident in every session. She goes above and beyond.

My child has a new found level of confidence and self assurance since enrolling and I hope to continue with this program for years to come, and eventually enroll in the adult classes myself.

I highly encourage the community to check out Cultivate Power Fighting Arts. Whether you are looking to learn jujitsu or seeking a positive and empowering environment for your children, this place is the perfect fit. The jujitsu class is exceptional, the instructors are fantastic, and the skills gained here go beyond the training mat.

We LOVE CPFA! They are the best gym in Butte county. We travel multiple times a week from Chico to Oroville for our daughter to learn jujitsu from these amazing coaches!

The coaches are friendly and very welcoming. They also show incredible amounts of patience and leadership. You can tell they are passionate about creating a safe environment for all ages and skill levels to learn!

CPFA is an amazing community for growth, exercise and learning! As a parent who watches these classes you see the students walk away with handfuls of knowledge and skills you can implement in daily life far beyond the mats!

I cannot recommend them enough!

Both of my sons trained at Cultivate Power for over two years. My eldest was the highest-ranked student, a junior coach, and the academy's top performer in tournaments, contributing more than half of the overall points.

We ultimately decided to leave because we could no longer tolerate the risk of serious injury. To be clear, we never raised concerns about minor injuries like weekly bloody noses or black eyes, as we understand those are part of training in BJJ. However, even after a student suffered a broken back in class and my son narrowly avoided a severe neck injury from another student, the school's response was dismissive. They stated that managing safety was not their responsibility and suggested that it was up to us, the parents, to directly address these issues with other students. Essentially, they expected me to discipline other people's children myself.

It's worth noting that it wasn't until we informed the owner of our decision to leave that they suddenly mentioned having received complaints about my son. If these complaints were genuine, they were never once communicated to us, and we were not given any opportunity to address them. To verify this, we spoke with eight different parents from the class. Every one of them stated they had no issues with my son; in fact, they all praised him for being incredibly safe and for helping teach the younger students how to use techniques safely. The only issues these parents mentioned were with the coaching staff, and many of them are considering leaving the academy as well.

We consistently emphasized the importance of safety with our children, regularly checked with other parents to ensure my son was not being too aggressive, and were never advised by the coaches that any changes were needed. Our priority has always been safety and proper technique, both in and out of class.

Given the academy’s lack of responsibility for student safety and their reluctance to address serious concerns, I cannot recommend this gym.

We have never been dismissed from a gym, period. I don't know what you are talking about. We did Judo, where we discontinued. Contact Harry Burleson, the Judo Sensei, for confirmation Or look at the screen cap below. Yet more lies and shifting blame.
