I REALLY wish there was another dance studio here in Maricopa. I had a really unsettling experience with DSPA. I pulled my three year old daughter out of classes after she wandered outside, unaccompanied ten minutes before her class ended. It was dark outside already. Fortunately my husband saw her walk outside, as he was able to find a parking spot by the door. I must add that this studio has no where for parents to sit, and there is no viewing area/window either. I feel this is a must for the preschooler groups. I did take the matter up with the owner, Ceylan, and she took full responsibility… the excuse however was that the lobby was chaotic due to recital parent night (we decided to not participate in recital, which we communicated weeks ago) and that our daughter “slipped away from view”… her class shouldn’t have ended early without us knowing so (we have no correspondence regarding our daughter’s class ending early). If we knew her class was ending early that day, my husband would have been in the building at that time. My husband always walks in five minutes before her class ends so that he can see her walk out. I just can’t wrap my head around what could have happened if my husband wasn’t there to see her walk outside. She could have been hit by a car, or taken from us… Absolutely inexcusable.

Absolutely RUDE ladies here!! I took my poor daughter there for nothing she was so excited and now they're telling me she can't come. Terirble! I wish I could rate ZERO.

To whoever responded to me- it didnt cussing anyone out. I was upset and hung up the phone. It seems like many people have issues with the staff here. Just terrible.

My daughter has been dancing since she was 3. She has been to several studios over 3 different states. She has had her share of laid back, very strict and a happy balance of both. I am very happy to have found this studio. She has excelled in the short time that she has arrived. She is pushed just enough out of her comfort zone so she can see how much talent she really has. These kids’ abilities are able to shine through. They have events for the kids and are very welcoming. I have been the odd mom out at a few studios and this isn’t the case here, and my daughter feels the same. They have made accommodations for her since she arrived and I could not be more thankful.

My daughter loves dancing here. She started when she was 3 and is almost 5. The teachers are amazing. The staff and owner is very friendly . When times got tough I was able to apply for the Gems. Without the Gems my daughter couldn't dance anymore. So very thankful for the Gems. My son has special needs. I love the inspire class that allowed my son to participate in a dance class. He always felt welcomed in the class and I loved that he could dance in a class like his sister. I am very happy to have a place that my kids both live. Thanks for all that you do for your families and the community!

Our daughter has been attending DSPA for 8 years. We started slowly but eventually she has been taking classes daily and LOVES it! Her teachers encourage, care, and push their dancers to achieve their best! DSPA is family oriented and has become our family! Love this studio!

We have been dancing at DSPA for a little over 5 years now, my daughter and 2 of my sons have danced there. It is a very fun and loving environment. The kids have a blast and love going. I love how they are excepting to all needs and abilities.

DSPA is the most supportive, loving, and well rounded studio around. I make a long commute because of the amazing director and values she upholds. This studio offers great opportunities for children to grow their love of dance in a safe non-judgemental environment. My family and I have been grateful for all the love and support we have received from Ceylan and the DSPA family. WE LOVE YOU!

DSPA was great for our family, until it wasn’t. My girls danced there for 7 years and loved it, until they didn’t. The last year was horrible. After coming home from dance feeling down on herself every day for over a month, saying she never did anything right, my daughter came home from a lyrical class her old, happy self. Turns out they had a substitute teacher who paid her 3 compliments. I can’t remember what they were, as they were fairly basic compliments. Yet they made a 100% difference in her attitude. It reminded my daughter how much she loves dance, and how unhealthy DSPA had become for her. I have many other similar stories, most of which boil down to the owner putting to much pressure on the dancers, treating them as replaceable, and pitting students against each other by having a select group of “favorites.” I will say, DSPA does provide quality dance training and the majority of the teachers are wonderful and truly care for their students.
