I don't recommend to go to school here for a degree. The campus is in need of repairs such as the NHC building sliding doors being broken. It requires you to manually slide them open and closed. There's often plumbing issues in the dorms such as toilets backing up. In my dorm hall the water was brown for 3 days due to pipes bursting someplace on campus, not all halls were effected. Sometimes the power goes out when it's really windy for 15 minutes or so. You could get a good or bad resident advisor for your dorm, such as them enforcing the quiet hours and making you whisper even in your room. There's a curfew at 11pm, if caught outside you could be written up. The parking lot for the dorm students also gets locked up at 11pm and you will have to ask security to open it up. Some faculty is exemplary and other's are lacking very much. I hate to say it but the older Navajo instructors aren't very organized or good with technology. One instructor never replied to emails and wanted us to text them instead. The school pays adjunct faculty very low and it doesn't help the high turnover of faculty and students. They do dorm inspections maybe twice a semester which requires you to move everything 1 foot from the walls which is a hassle especially when it's timed badly such as before midterms. Some dorm rooms have issues with their heating systems. There is no AC in the rooms. Some dorm halls have an annoying security system beeping sound every minute in the entryway. They do a fire safety drill at a random time which is super inconvenient and adds to the stress of living there. The school pretty much only has the cafeteria to offer food. It isn't the greatest quality and is hit or miss depending on the day. I would describe it as middle school lunch most days. Sometimes vegetables and rice is undercooked or bland. Other times it's unfilling. A small selection of sandwiches and salads from the coffee shop can be found. Students will get Mexican food at lunch from a vendor at the local gas station. The gas station food is pretty much the only other option. It's selection is hit or miss and costs more than you would expect. It's inconvenient that there's no local stores for groceries and other needs for dorm living. Overall the school is really only decent for the young who are being introduced to college, adulthood and want to stay on the Reservation for family. Please consider going somewhere else.
