I have multiple children who have danced at Doreen’s for years including through the pandemic. My children have multiple different teachers and i have nothing negative to say about any of them. The director is an outstanding dancing, teacher, and role model. My daughter looks up to her in every way. This isn’t just a dance studio it’s a family. The teachers take pride in the children not only having fun but making sure the dancers master techniques. The dancers are held to reasonable expectations. Those on the competitive teams are outstanding dancers & will not move up until mandatory goals are met. I personally love this. It makes the kids want to practice and are so proud of themselves when they are able to move up. The teachers make the kids feel good when they master a move or trick. I’ve never had any issues with communication to or from the studio and when i have a concern they’re informative and supportive. The director is approachable and has no issues answering questions from myself or my dancers. My kids also love the summer classes and look forward to the summer camps every year. Doreen’s Dance Center is worth every penny!

We’ve been at Doreen’s for 10 years and have found the staff supportive of my two different tempered kids. My girls have gained confidence along with learning multiple styles of dance. They teachers are knowledgeable and patient. My one daughter sometimes tends to clam up or shut down as a result of not understanding a new step, technique or instruction but they’ve always been willing to work in helping her to get unstuck. As Doreen’s does not own the building, it is difficult to review based on the facilities when it’s not under their control.

I started dancing here when I was three years old and stayed until I graduated in 2011! DDC was always my second home, and I’ve even gone back to take classes as an adult! The thing that continues to amaze me everytime I go back is how the studio continues to grow, in both quality and character. The teachers work incredibly hard to create a positive environment and encourage every dancer who walks through their door. I 100% encourage everyone to sign their children up for dance class here, as I hope to do with my own children one day! I promise, you won’t be disappointed!!

Amazing dance space! My child has grown exponentially as a dancer in the last few years and has made the best friendships. The staff is outstanding and the teachers are invested in their students! The building may be slightly outdated but what is taught inside those walls brings me pure joy! My child is thriving here, is well supported by teachers and peers and it shows!

I never would have imagined how a one week acrobatics camp many summers ago would have shaped my daughters’ lives. From that first day, they were hooked. My daughters have been at DDC for the last ten years. They have learned so much from their teachers over the years. The staff is respectful and truly takes the time to get to know each student. They meet each student where they are and encourage them to strive for personal goals. I have observed many classes over the years and I am always impressed by the teacher’s expertise and how students support one another. DDC has been way more than a dance studio. The staff, students, and parents have become like a family.

We're just finishing up year 8 of dancing at Doreen's and can't wait for the next! What my children have received over those years, goes far beyond dance training, which can be found many places. They have learned perseverance, confidence and how to be good teammates. They've learned to reach and work for their goals and they've learned how to handle those moments when they fall short of their goals.
The staff is more than just people who work at my kids' studio. They are part of our "village", whom I reach out to when my kids are struggling in any area of their lives. They are a part of our support system and gladly go the extra mile, ON THEIR OWN TIME, for all the kiddos.
Additionally, as a Black mother in an area of Connecticut where, to put it gently, I don't always feel welcome, I can't express how much it means to me to know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that not only are my children physically safe in the care of DDC staff but that their emotional well-being will be protected just as fiercely!
Can I say it's all perfect harmony all the time? Of course not! Tell me one place that is! What I can say, is that we love DDC and absolutely feel loved in return!

Where to begin. This studio is more than just a place to learn how to dance. Its a place where friendships blossom and turn into family. We joined on the later side nervous about being the outcast since friendships were already formed. We couldn't have been anymore wrong. The last weekend was a great reminder of why we love it here. We got to see all the dancers light up the stage doing what they love to do. We got to hear cheering from the girls supporting each other. Then see the smiles on stage getting bigger from the cheering. We got to hear the parents cheering on everyones kids, crying and hugging each other for other’s HUGE accomplishments. The teachers all care about their students and put the time and energy to each and everyone. They capitalize on everyones strengths and create cohesive teams. Everyone has their own set of goals and everything is very individualized. If you are looking for a place to learn, to grow and be part of a family this is the place to be.

A great place for learning to dance! My sister has been taking lessons there for around 2 years, and she’s way better than me! She’s made new friends, and her teachers are great too! 100% recommend for anyone who loves dancing!
