I worked for this company for a couple of years, and honestly, it wasn’t the worst job ever, but it also wasn’t exactly living the dream. It was kind of like eating gas station sushi—technically, it’ll sustain you, but you’re questioning your life choices the whole time.

Training was fine, but things got real when I arrived at the house where I’d be working with individuals with mental disabilities. Part of my orientation was reading through their case files, and that’s when I had my “What in the actual hell?” moment.

First file—child molestation in the background. Yikes, but okay, I can deal with one.

Second file—oh great, another one. At this point, I started calculating how fast I could walk out the door without looking suspicious.

Third file—honestly, I don’t even remember. He could’ve been in for tax evasion, or he could’ve been a mime that got too aggressive. Who knows? My brain had already checked out. But, against all logic, I stuck it out.

Was I the best employee? Probably not. But was there clear guidance or communication? Also no. My favorite part was how I somehow worked every single holiday while the house manager, Isabel, miraculously got every single one off. She lived with her mother, so I guess she needed to be home to help with… something? Meanwhile, I was over here ringing in every holiday like a champ.

Then there was Mary Ann, who absolutely loved talking about me but never to me. If she had an issue, she wouldn’t just tell me—she’d tell everyone else like we were in a badly written workplace drama.

One of the things that drove me the craziest? I was new to Ohio, and for some reason, that infuriated the house manager. If one of the guys had an appointment somewhere, she’d expect me to just magically know where it was. I’d ask her to write down the address so I could put it in my GPS, and you’d think I asked her to handwrite the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Also, my spelling isn’t the best (shoutout to dyslexia), and she loved making fun of my notes. Like, sorry my documentation wasn’t a Shakespearean masterpiece—I was just trying to log how the day went, not write a bestseller.

At the end of the day, the pay was meh, the job was tolerable, and the management was a choice. Would I recommend it? Eh, maybe if you really love working holidays and being expected to read minds. Otherwise, hard pass

I am very unhappy with the service that my friend received. Caregivers where not helpful and basically got paid to sit on their phone and watch tv! I felt they were not properly trained to work with the client they are with. Being with many time experiences and verbal outburst I feel it was unnecessary to have this client arrested, for verbal conflict. The staff should know how to diffuse situation or call other stay to solve problems. I would not recommend your company for any home care assistant

This place is great for a job, but when they mention the client you’re going to take care of they don’t tell you if they’re non verbal or if they communicate. So please speak up about that.

Useless.. refuse to pay employees.. refuse to treat bedbugs.. over works good employees..won't Hire more help when needed.. allowed a patiant to be abused and medication stolen and moved employee to a new facility.. unless company

A company you can't speak your mind about clients or situations that go on in clients home.

The staff does not care about the people, just being lazy and making the money. The management is even worse and doesn't care about it's employees, or does the proper steps to help the patient... very displeased and upset... Would not recommend...

All I’m going to say is the office people don’t help out at any of the houses at all and half the hours they make you work you don’t get paid for…
