I've been flying for 20 years, but am somewhat new to the Memphis area. As a professional pilot, wherever I live, I look for the best place around to occasionally rent a plane to go "joy-riding". These guys are the best deal around for price. But much more importantly, the planes they have for rent are beautiful, clean, well maintained, and attractive. Their instructors are very courteous, well-prepared, and the rental checkout process as painless as possible. I was also delighted to be able to purchase a block time discount for minimal up front cost. My wife and I are looking forward to exploring the area in their planes, and have enjoyed getting to know the team here.

Finished up my Instrument Rating last month. Jacob Gill did a great job, as he did with my private pilot training. Properly prepared for written exam and my checkride. Flexibility with his scheduling was a big help! Eager to teach, eager to get out there and fly. Couldn’t ask for a better experience. The dream and goal of pilot training is not just meeting the minimum requirements, it is a great deal more than that. Flying has certain risks and challenges but even more so if you don’t receive highly competent training. First Team Pilot Training is committed to you as a student and dedicated to providing you with all the tools needed to become a safe, skilled and proficient aviator.

They take pride in matching you to an instructor that meshes with you. Their planes (Piper Cherokees) are properly maintained and the cost is very reasonable. Their office manager Taylor is a joy to work with as are their instructors. (Logan Harrah is amazing!)

If you are wanting to become a pilot and do so in a timely and economically fashion, then First Team is you best choice in the Memphis area.

Amazing school with great instructors and community. I had a flat tire after a lesson and my cfi and the flight school owner took time from their day to air up all my tires to make sure I made the hour drive home safely.

I recently got my CFI rating with First Team flight school at the West Memphis airport. The airport is close to downtown Memphis and has a 6,000 ft runway with multiple approaches and not to busy so a great place to learn to fly. Aircraft are updated with modern avionics and instructors prioritize each student’s needs. Definitely recommend.

I took my son on a discovery flight with first team pilot training. He is in high school and is interested in a career in aviation. We had a great time! Our instructor was very knowledgeable, friendly and patient.
The airport is easy to find and would be a great training environment…there is tons of wide open space in the area.
If you’re in the Memphis area, would definitely recommend First Team Pilot Training.

My son had the privilege of training under Jacob Gill. He passed his private pilot test and has moved on to college at MTSU in the ATP program. Jacob, Barry, and the team did a wonderful job teaching the written program and proper technique to fly the Cherokee trainer. As a testament to this statement, my son flew a Diamond DA40 last week and was told that it was "obvious he had been taught well"!

I would highly recommend Jacob, Barry, and his team!

I've been taking flight lessons for several months at First Team Pilot Training and have made very nice progress towards my Private Pilot License.

The Piper Cherokees they use are nice with upgraded avionics and the instructors are competent, calm, friendly and passionate about flying ... a great complement of skills!

This is exactly what you want when you're learning to fly.
