I was able to go from Zero hours to a CFI/I with my multi engine rating in almost exactly 12 months on budget. I won't lie and say there were no bumps in the road, but at the end of the day, I achieved my dreams and Flex Air made it happen. As long as you are willing to meet them halfway, I never saw myself or others go unsupported. All of the instructors were wildly flexible to make the program work for each individual. Even at the end of my training, when my schedule was getting harder and shorter notice, my needs were always met and together we took care of business. I recommend Flex Air to any aspiring pilot, especially if you are coming from the military on the SkillBridge program.

Everyone was super easy to work with and get along with. Jack, one of the CFIs was very knowledgeable and made learning to fly a lot of fun. I highly recommend the program to anyone wanting to get into aviation.

Excellent for veterans looking for a fun SkillBridge in a new profession. It is the only DoD authorized Skillbridge for servicemembers who have no flight experience to become a pilot. It even double as an internship and potential employment placement. It really is a one stop shop.

Hanna is the best! I watched Flex Air come to San Diego and grow and can say that thought and care were put into every step of the process. Hanna is a gem teacher who makes flying fun while also ensuring safety of all on board as well as the plane. I flew with 6 other teachers before landing on Hanna and never looked back. With her guidance, I went into my check ride feeling prepared and as confident as I could manage and passed with no problem. If you are looking for friendly, flexible, and competent flight instruction in SD look no further than Flex Air.

Turning dreams into reality.
I had no clue what I direction my life was going to take once I had separated from the Navy. After some lengthy research, the idea was planted in my head that maybe, just maybe, I could transition into something I had only dreamed of in high school.
Paul Wynns clearly and thoroughly laid out how achieving the dream of becoming a pilot was not only possible but, with enough determination, inevitable, even for some one like myself with zero flight experience. He spoke truth in that it would not be easy, but their instructors were the best in the business at getting people there. Soon after, I was paired with one of those Top of the Line instructors, Jack Yu.
Jack exemplified professionalism and a mastery of his craft. It was clear to me on my very first flight that flying that he had turned flying and teaching into an art form. His skills, paired with all off the resources that Flex air provides for their students ensured that in just a couple months I was ready for my private check ride to which I passed with, pun intended, flying colors.
This was just step one for me as I am in their zero to hero program and will be with them all the way until I am building time to go to the airlines my self. I am happy to say, I could not be in better hands on this journey that will set me on the path of my dreams.

In March of 2019, I had the privilege of completing my CFI-I with the chief pilot, Hanna. From the point of contact, Karen made me feel like I was at the right place and Charlie and Hanna always gave me the support I needed. Flex Air San Diego is in the top echelon of flight schools! Everyone there genuinely cares about you and your journey to become a pilot. From the onboarding process to ground and flight instruction, I felt well taken care of. I want to give a shout out to Michael Bower for taking care of the business side of things. I also must acknowledge all three instructors I had while there: Chief Pilot, Hanna Fowler (one of the most knowledgeable pilots I’ve ever met) and Advanced CFI’s Devon Stillwell and Luke Gibson. The Best! I cannot express how thankful I am for the patience, professionalism and quality of Flex Air. I recently received my private pilot license, thanks to Hanna and Flex air. I have previously tried 2 other schools, this was by far my best experience. I would recommend Flex Air without hesitation.
