"Let me paint a picture for you: It’s freezing, my pipes are frozen, and I’m just trying to survive with a hot shower so I can function like a normal human being. A year ago, I joined the Gear Family YMCA for exactly this reason. When the pipes thawed and life got back to normal, I called to cancel my membership. Easy, right? WRONG.

Fast forward to today—pipes froze AGAIN (despite my genius plan of running the water, thanks winter). So, I dust off the idea of a YMCA membership, hop online, sign up, and head over for a much-needed shower. But when I try to get my new membership card, I’m told I owe $81 on my old account. Why? Apparently, you have to physically come in and fill out a magical 30-day cancellation form, which no one ever mentioned. So, let me get this straight: You continued charging me for two months last year while I wasn’t even setting foot in your building, and now you’re holding my new membership hostage until I pay up?

To add insult to injury, the locker room is filthy. But hey, when you’re desperate and freezing, you just suck it up. Pro tip: Don’t. Just don’t. Save yourself the headache, the $81 robbery, and the joy of bathing in questionable hygiene standards. I’ll figure out another way to stay clean for work because you’re not getting another dime out of me. Thanks for nothing, Gear Family YMCA."

I'm sure the facility and staff are very nice but I do have an issue with the membership rate being income based. You ask some people to pay the highest rate because they make more but receive nothing extra for having to pay more. The rates should be the same for everyone in each classification; child, adult, family, senior. Do not punish someone because they work hard and make more, or at least offer those who pay the most extra benefits of some kind. By the way the Tiffin Y doesn't do income based rates, everyone pays the same for the same benefits...as it should be.

They told us with the family all year pass you could bring 2 guests all year long, and he came here every time I came and we never had to sign a waver until today and they jut told us we could only bring him twice, so they are either really terrible with their job, or they are liars. Other than that it's a great place to work out.

Best ever !! Plenty of exercise equipment.plenty of free weights.swimming , basketball,boxing bags, loaded cardio room no waiting for machines,and child care while u workout , staff is always ready and willing to assist .bleach wipes and sanitizer everywhere.place is second to none.
