Very difficult to choose a BJJ class in Yuba City for our son. When we first started he highly needed it I couldn't be happier to choose Ground Up BJJ. The discipline and routine has done wonders for our son. His character, personality and confidence is phenomenal. The teachers are great with every age of students. My son has made so many friends since he started. My family and I highly recommend this studio.

One of the best gyms I've ever been to. The coached at all levels are incredibly welcoming, slow every step down and teach fundamentals to everyone coming in. My first class was the 6am class with big bear men and I am so thankful I chose this class first. As a tiny little woman I felt incredibly intimidated and now, almost a year later, I roll with the boys and have earned 2 stripes. I highly encourage any person from any age group to come in and check us out. They have literally become a second family to me and we are just growing!

Ground up has been an amazing addition to our day to day lives as a family. The facility is very clean and very inviting. We originally started our daughter here and she quickly grew to love it. She’s made amazing progress with the help of all her coaches. They have so much patience and pay attention to every single one of their students, no one is left behind or looked past. My husband and I started attending classes as well and it’s become something we all love doing as a family. Which is saying a lot for me as I’ve not always been comfortable with things like this. That being said…the family atmosphere at ground up, kindness from others here, amazing coaches and how willing to help other members are has definitely helped all of us grow in more ways than one here. All in all this is a great place to train regardless of your skill level or age.

3 months ago I walked into their world to try a free class. When I got there they were friendly and welcoming but also serious and professional.
The first thing I noticed were all the kids (kids classs in session). Every one of them were participating and concentrating and trying. They were all smiling and having fun. Then I tried the adult class. 60 minutes later I was walking out with the biggest smile on my face. It's hard to explain the class, just go. Try it, you'll smile too.

I had a trial jiu jitsu class last week with Justin and a stretching/mobility class with Natalie.
I am a complete beginner in jiu jitsu and just loved it! Both instructors were great and highly professional, but at the same time, you feel extremely welcome and cared for. The stretching class was beyond my expectations, creative poses, and Natalie’s energy were wonderful. After that, I had my first jiu-jitsu class with Justin. I liked the structure and progression of the jiu jitsu class, with detailed combinations.
The coach did a great job of building the class the way experienced belts and the beginners like having fun and a lot of practice.
All the members were super nice, helped me with the learning process, and were very patient!
They keep the place very clean and in great shape, with a comfortable temperature/AC for training.
It is definitely a gem in Yuba City, and I am jealous of people who live close by, but even with me being about an hour away, it is 100% worth the drive because of the great people and facility. You will definitely want to come back for sure! I highly recommend this place to everyone!

Visiting from Arizona and couldn't be happier that I was able to drop by and get some training. Great people, very welcoming, and all around awesome vibe. Professor Sean & Professor Jag definitely know what they're doing.

Coach Justin is great with the toddlers class. He keeps the kids focused & on task while sprinkling in enough fun to keep a 4-5 year old engaged. I like that in every class they are able to perform the drills on each other.
The real endorsement is that my son asks to go each week.
