Without Shauna’s help I do not think the school system would have done anything for my little boy. I went through tons of meetings not knowing what to do. Fighting on my own. Then I found Guiding Light. It took 1 IEP with Shauna there for the district to do the right thing. Thank you I will forever be grateful.

Shauna’s experience and knowledge have been a blessing to our family. For years, we’ve dealt with the public special education school system and trusted they would give my son the quality education he needs and is entitled to. Unfortunately, they’ve been doing the bare minimum and not providing services to ensure he progresses academically. As a parent of a child with autism I truly feel that the public school system is failing the most vulnerable children. Students with special needs are being pushed aside and ignored. During the IEP meetings, Shauna stepped in and was not afraid to call out school administrators and address discrepancies. She took control of the messy situation my son was placed in with his previous IEP’s. She actively provided solutions to issues while keeping my son's best interests in mind. Shauna is absolutely AMAZING! She came into our family at a very much needed time in order to find the right place for our neurodivergent kiddo in the public school system. We have been through hell for the past 2 years and honestly as soon as I met Shauna I knew I found the light at the end of this dark tunnel. She comes with 25 years of special education experience so she knows the in and outs, what they can offer etc. She is kind, but also straight to the point which I appreciate. She has done wonders for our sweet boy and I can’t recommend her enough!

After our first meeting with Shauna, my husband said, ‘I feel like we just got the cheat codes to this game.’ I had been in a lot of meetings with providers and assessors, and sometimes I felt like my son was going to be helped, sometimes I didn’t. But the initial consultation with Shauna was the first time I ever felt like someone was going to help me too. Even though I am an attorney, the special education world is unfamiliar and daunting. I always worried that I didn’t understand enough to ask the right questions, and that I was missing some piece of the puzzle. I was worried I was going to fail my child. With Shauna, I know that no stone will be left unturned, that we will get the absolute best possible services. And I trust her to tell me when we’ve achieved that, because she’s there to represent my kid only, without having to balance the interests of the school or district.
