HFI is a rare gem that provides a unique mix of interpersonal support and professional training to therapists and non-therapists alike. As a clinical psychologist and woman who is dedicated to not only continuing education and professional development, but my personal healing and consciousness as well, I have found this balance to be invaluable. That said, in the name of balance and transparency, I will say that while clinically, I have witnessed significant transformations (personally, professionally) happen here, the trade off is less structure/administrative organization which can make the program hard to navigate at times. Also, I would like to see more diversity/inclusion (age, race, gender) in the community as they expand. Still, HFI clinicians and trainers are some of the most talented and skilled in trauma-informed body-centered treatment. In my opinion, HFI has created a conscious community for people from different walks of life to explore their own process, through education and self-awareness, in the interest of supporting others in their healing process. It is a safe and warm environment for people to land, I have not seen it's equal, a truly special place.

This place is as close to a cult as one can get while flying just under that radar. From the outside, the philosophy appears noble but the inner workings are dark, dangerous and designed to keep clients locked in a perpetual state of victimhood. They take a one-size-fits-all approach to their philosophy and will harshly challenge you if you don't accpet their "holy grail" as the truth. Therapists are spotty with scheduling and even if you spend years doing trauma work with one therapist, they will casually throw you to another therapist if they casual decide to go on month long retreats or hiatuses without any regard for how that may impact the client. I cannot imagine their treatment outcomes are favorable. Anyone affiliated with HFI will try to recruit you to join the program and become a "therapist," even if you're not credentialed to do so. Apparently they get reduced cash rates if they do (so atlruistic for a company who refuses to accept insurance from clients). Their outward appearance is rooted in this sickly sweet accpetance and unconditional regard which quickly begins to feel like gaslighting and invalidation. A tactic I'm certain they would vehemently deny in their self-rightousness. I've seen several therapists here in the past and it's like they all follow the same robotic. challenging, and insensitive script. By challenging, I don't mean in the sense of gently challenging people to see outside their faulty thinking, but challenging deep emotional wounds as though they know you better than you know yourself. Expect to be brushed off and told that you energetically invited your trauma. If you don't accept that as fact, then you will be gaslighted and told you're being resistent. It's truly disgusting! I felt retraumatized as a result of my experiences here and have since engaged in healthy therapy that has empowered me and significantly improved my life in 4 months; more than the 4 years of "therapy" at HFI. I have since become an LPC and my experience at HFI has strengthened my conscious empathy and gentleness with clients because I see how damaging therapy can be. I hate leaving negative reviews but I wish I'd read some honest feedback prior to my exeperience here.

Horrible very dark manipulative place. I’m writing this review because I don’t want this happening to anyone else. They have an unlicensed “therapist” running group that has no idea what she’s doing. This is very intense therapy and is dangerous with the wrong people running it. HFI was not supportive at all through what came up during my time there and they projected their stuff onto me. Told me not to come back with six weeks left, wouldn’t even let me attend the lectures or respond to my emails. No way to treat an HFI member. Extremely unprofessional and inhumane. I’m doing great now. I cleared my subconscious from severe childhood abuse which is where the “victimizer” (term they use) originates. No reason to go through all that.

Unbelievable the amount of compassion, empathy, awareness and transformation that is possible working with this healing community. Been involved with myself and other friends and family members for close to 15 years now. Could not speak more highly of them. Early on in my life I believed therapy/counseling was for people who weren't strong enough to remain miserable. Glad I wasn't strong enough and glad I found them.
