Hartford Jobcorps is the worst job corps place you can ever go too. the staff, principles, and higher ups can’t even do their job whatsoever even I hear the workers complain about how bad the job is and it’s crazy hearing from them and the communication between staff and principles and teachers are terrible it’s like they make up there own rules everyday they don’t go by what the rules actually say because none of them know the actual rules,I been here for a year and I would say nothing has changed not even one. The living conditions are terrible because you’re constantly in a cold room with no heater, there dirty stink bugs that crawl around the rooms and dead ones by the window. It’s like they don’t care about you or what you have to say about it. Garbage food, you get blamed for any little thing even if you didn’t do it they just accuse you of it so they think there the smart ones and they don’t help with bullying situations when it comes to students, if I could give this place 0 stars I would 100% they had the audacity when I was on medical leave they lost all my stuff I had here an still to this day they still haven’t found it and it’s been 6 months. So if you ever decide to come here… DONT because they will treat you like a prisoner👎🏽

Hartford Job Corps is self paced it depends on how bad you want your life to be better I was 17yrs old when I went and graduated in 9moths with my High School Diploma,CNA certificate , cpr first aid and driver’s permit some girls were there for a year and haven’t completed anything so it’s all up to you!! The faster you get out the more work you put in

This place is a joke. It’s a prison. Lack of communication. They don’t help with placement for work! I do not recommend anyone going to Hartford, Ct job corp. GO TO A DIFFERENT JOB. DO NOT GO TO HARTFORD JOB CORP. it needs shutdown

There’s pros and cons, as there is to any organization.
Pros:
1. Free residential status, education, food, activities, etc
2. Certifications. Can have college paid for.
3. Meet some amazing staff and students
4. Gain skills in employment, budgeting, social skills, customer service skills, resume building, etc.
5. Helps with accessing benefits post graduation (SNAP, Section 8, jobs)
6. Gives a fat CHECK after graduating, along with free clothing allowance
7. Pays $40 bi-weekly (not much, but still something)
Cons:
1. BE CAREFUL who you choose to let into your circle. When I tell you it could ruin your life, I mean it.
2. Not much compassion/resources towards students with mental health struggles
3. Dorms infested with bugs. Temperatures vary from either extremely hot to extremely cold.
4. Some staff can be difficult to communicate with at times
5. Strict rules that can be hard to keep up with
6. Cafeteria food is…not the best. There’s some good options (the biscuits), but I’m grateful for my EBT card.
7. The weekly scores!!!!
Although there can be some hardships…okay. MANY hardships when attending Job Corps, it’s best to stick it out, as it’s guaranteed to help with your future employment and independent living skills. My main suggestion is: if you have somewhere to stay, be a non-residential student. Still, take advantage of this opportunity. You’re not gonna get it anywhere else…and, if it ever gets to be too much, you’re allowed to resign at any point.

Great opportunities can be found through the Hartford Job Corps Center. The center offers flexible learning options - with a residential component for students who need to live on campus and a nonresidential option for those who need to live at home and commute. Students can complete their HSD/GED and get certified to work in one of three regionally in-demand trades, and even continue on to further their education through college partnerships and advanced training program connections around the nation. Community partnerships with local businesses offer competitively priced internships and work-based learning experiences. As a staff myself, I consider it a privilege to come to work everyday and serve students so determined to get ahead in life by furthering their education. Here at Job Corps, students achieve great success and highly trained teachers and counselors help clear the way of obstacles for them to move forward.

I work here, and we provide an awful lot of classes, services, and benefits for free. My students are awesome, and so many of them are out there living their best life because of the skills they learned in Job Corps! Job Corps is what you make it. The opportunities are almost endless, you just have to decide what you want and work for it!

I’ve only been at job corps for 2 months now and I got to say it’s a very good program I’m not sure why most of these reviews are so horrible it’s all about how you look at it it has its advantages and disadvantages. Their counselors are very nice and respectful and so every staff and student. I haven’t had any issues with them and they always work with you the trade based learning system is very fun and interactive with a great way to learn a trade you have an option to get your high school diploma with the trade or you can simply just get your trade done but everyone needs to take academics I enjoy being here because of the environment I’m surrounded in I love the respectful people it does take transition and the students and staff help you get through that you need to take a table test and if you tabe up a level you earn $100 you start with $20 every 2 weeks then once your here for a month or 2 it goes up to $40 every 2 weeks then once you get 6 months you get $60 a month on top of the ability to tabe up levels in either ELA or MATH for $100 a table up only bad experiences I had where that the beds are uncomfortable I had locked my clothes up and lost the key and they keep forgetting to call maintains I definitely recommend a bed topper, any electronics you would like to bring and make sure you pack toilet trees such as toothpaste fabric softener tie pods or laundry detergent they feed you breakfast lunch and dinner which isn’t always the best but it is all free it’s an experience you won’t forget

If you’re not white this place will treat you in a way that it’s truly disgusting. They’ll TRY** to break you mentally ( black & Hispanic) I attended this place back in 2012 & the staff were everything plus more 🤩, now it’s the total opposite. It’s no love no care there nothing to look forward to in this place. God is my witness this place won’t be in business for long.
