The instructor for my (new miner training) group, Rick, showed an incredibly deep knowledge of all aspects of mining and has real talent for sharing his wisdom in a patient, relaxed, good humored way. I look forward to the refresher next year.

First time using them and I will never again! Wasn’t even allowed to take my annual msha refresher because I didn’t have my previous 5000-23. His reason was he had to make sure I was getting the correct class. Why would I spend $130 on the wrong class to then take a chance of getting fined by MSHA. Won’t be back!

I attended an MSHA refresher course here in February, 2017. The material was presented in a sparse format, hardly any visuals or entertaining visual aids. In addition, the instructor made sexist comments about women drivers and when I presented him with evidence to the contrary (in fact women are safer drivers than men hence their lower insurance rates) he countered with the assertion there were less women drivers on the road than men, and they probably caused more accidents. I was shocked that a person instructing a federally mandated course was so sexist. As I was the only woman in the room it was a very uncomfortable experience for me. I will not be attending this facility in the future and will request that my company, which is 100+ people, not use them in the future.
