The guide at the beginning was very informative and broke down things very easy for the kids field trip. It was very organized. My only suggestion is they need to try to treat the fire ant beds. I know that can be a difficult task to stay up on but it's safer when there's several kids there in field trips.

Great tour guide and perfect amount of information and freedom to explore independently. I’ve read quite a few books about Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan and still learned so much! Guide was friendly and interesting, juggling many guests with grace and kindness.

Ivy Green, the birthplace of Helen Keller, is a well preserved home built in 1820. The tour guide did a fantastic job of taking us through the history of the homestead, the Keller Family, and of course, Helen’s amazing story of sickness to triumph over adversity. Tour is both guided and self-guided so you do not feel rushed. They offer a theatrical version of “The Miracle Worker” in June and July. Lots of artifacts over 100 years old. Prices vary due to age and off Senior and military discounts. Some parts are not handicap assessable, the upstairs bedrooms( I think it’s because they kept the house original). Still highly recommended. Upstairs just showcases how they lived in the 1800s (see bedroom pictures). The real story is downstairs and outside displays!

Wow! What a fantastic place! The house is immaculately kept with original pieces from the Keller family descendants. The tour guides were so helpful and answered all the questions people had. The grounds were beautiful and made it easy to wander around and learn more. It was such an inspiring trip! We highly recommend the Miracle Worker show as well!! It's an amazing production done in the highest quality and professionalism. It might help to bring a fan and bug spray since it is outside, but they have a concession stand that is quite fairly priced. You won't regret attending!

I traveled to Nashville on Natchez Trace and decided to stop and visit. You can only purchase tickets once at location. Adults is $10 and I think $5 for children. They do have discount for military etc. I paid $8 (veteran) it would have been $9 if I used a debit/credit card.
The house was built in 1820 by Helen’s paternal grandfather. He came from Virginia and purchased a little over 600 acres. The house now sit on 10. The house is called Ivy Green because it had green Ivy all around it.
Mrs. Weaver was my tour guide and did great job.
Most of the furniture is original to house. The grounds is beautiful and there is so much to see and so much history. Would be best to spend 2-3 hours to take it all in. They also have a small gift shop.
I highly recommend visiting this national historic site.

Hey Ya'll! Ok. This was by far my favorite 😍 stop today!! We had a great tour guide, Dustin, who is very knowledgeable and has a great personality. We enjoyed hearing all about the story of Helen Keller at her birth place. It is inexpensive to tour inside, and the grounds are beautifully well kept, as well as the interior furnishings are well preserved. If you are a fan of the life of Helen Keller, then you must come see this!

I absolutely loved this place. It is peaceful and full of history. The history of Helen Keller is so powerful here. The recording of her speech to the Lion group haunts and echos across the whole property. And the history of her that one hears in school comes alive and presents itself to you. I definitely recommend visiting this place to learn and see history of this great pioneer lady, and all she accomplished. This is a must see place!! You won't be disappointed if you love history. So please make this a must stop and see place!!
